It's being tested at the minor league level now. I went to a AAA game a few weeks ago and paid attention. I think that it was three challenges per game. Didn't take any time whatsoever either.

Can it be on any pitch? I don't want to get carried away with completely removing the human element of the whole thing, but I'd be OK with a couple challenges per game on strike 3 or ball 4.

I think either the pitcher, catcher, or batter have to challenge immediately, they can't wait for the bench to review it. And once you get X challenges wrong you are out for the rest of the gsme. X might be 6.
