Question. If this was in fact the expanded bracket:
Is Bama the 3rd highest betting favorite behind tOSU and Georgia? I think so pretty comfortably, right?
they would luck out getting Tennessee sans Hooker, but LSU getting Penn State then TCU might give them that boost
What is the seeding structure other than you need to be a conference champ to be a top 4/get a bye? Are they just seeded according to the CFP committee rankings? I would think that they'd try to avoid rematches early on, but that seems almost impossible with 4 SEC and 3 B1G teams in the field (plus Georgia/Oregon playing in the non-conference). I was trying to rework it to avoid Bama/Tenn in round 1 and Geo./Oregon in round 2, but I don't think I can.
Flipping Tenn. and Penn St. still gives you a Tenn/LSU rematch and OSU/PSU in round 2. Flipping Oregon and Tenn. still give you Geo/Tenn rematch in round 2 Flipping Mich and LSU give you a Mich./PSU rematch Flipping LSU and Bama still gives you an LSU/Tenn rematch in round 1
Flipping Bama and Clemson would give you no round 1 rematches but it would set up Bama/Georgia in the quarterfinals and you know they want to save that for later on.
Obviously 3 of these teams are going to lose again (OSU/Mich., Geo/LSU, USC/Oregon? or it is USC/Wash.?) and that will reshuffle the deck quite a bit, but it looks like early rematches will be inevitable under this format.
Why are the seedlings all wack compared to how it actually is.
Bama/USC would be good. Fuck.
Top 4 conference champions get seeds 1-4 with a first round bye.
And there'd be significant debate about Tennessee/Alabama's seeding as Tennessee has the head to head win.
I'm not sure I agree with the top 4 conference champs getting the 1-4 seeds. Maybe make it top 2 and then the others are seeded based on the rankings. So you're telling me if we'd have had absolute chaos this past weekend (where all the underdogs won) the top 4 seeds could've been Utah, LSU, K-State, and UNC? Right.

That is correct. On the one hand it gives the conference championship games more meaning, on the other hand it can lead to absurd results.
With the Big 10 eliminating divisions wait until the year where Michigan-Ohio State is the last game of the year, and it is already decided prior to the game that they will face each other in the conference championship game. What incentive is there to win the 1st game? Do you rest your starting QB and other key players?
The obvious solution is to eliminate conference championship games, but that is never happening.
Predictions for tonight's chip game? My brain tells me Georgia has too much talent and wins this one going away, but TCU has the advantage at QB and I think it's a high scoring affair similar to the OU/UGA Rose Bowl from a few years back. Give me Georgia 41-33 over TCU.
