Ny biggest issue with the character clause is it's always used as an argument to keep folks out, but for borderline guys like Dale Murphy and Minnie Minoso and Buck O'Neil, it's not a tiebreaker for good. Like, "He's borderline, but he did so much good that it puts him over the top" is never used but "He's borderline (or slam-dunk in the case of Bonds and Clemens), but he's such a dick I can't vote him in" is.

The writers didn't make Aaron, Mays, Mantle, Maddux, Griffey unanimous. I don't totally trust their judgement.
I do think if Schilling weren't as combative he would be in...but that shouldn't matter. Very good regular season pitcher with two iconic postseason pitching runs and an NLCS MVP? That's in, IMO.
South why do you think Jeff Kent isnt getting more love?
8 seasons of 100+ RBIs Most HRs ever by a second baseman 2000 NL MVP 5 Time all star
My friend Steve Phillips said that JK isnt a bad guy. He's a little ornery on game day, but in general he's fine.
roids and being a dick to the nerd baseball writers. i bet he wouldn't get in even if they all decided to stop being holier than thou on the steroid stuff.
