I remember them modifying the rule after Buster Posey got his ass ran over (hence Jim's joke above), but agreed, it's an idiotic rule if that's not allowed.

I think based on the rule that is the correct call. I remember last season Austin Hedges had the same call against him and the runner had an even bigger lane to the plate. UEM may know what I mean. Yes, they need to fix the rule.
ETA: Actually I don't know if it is the right call. It looks like the catcher has to be in that position to field the throw which I think is legal. Prez, thoughts?

I believe you can’t block the plate but if the throw takes you into a spot it’s ok.
