I watched episode 1 last night. I am in. Like The Wire, it is sometimes difficult to follow what is going on.
Good to see Landsman again.
I am through 3 episodes. I am enjoying it, but there are so many plots and characters it is really difficult to follow everything and the plot sort of meanders because of it. The use of so many flash back scenes makes it difficult to follow as well. I understand why they have to do it because of the length of the story
The guy who plays Wayne Jenkins is great. So far it is almost like they didn't need both him and Josh Charles. Maybe that changes in the end.
They have a lot to cover in the remaining 3 episodes.
They literally tell you when it's a flashback with that graphic of typing in the log/personnel file deal.
Wayne Jenkins is a scumbag, but a charismatic and hillarious scumbag. I gasped! at the midget stripper scene.
The larger african american actress isn't great. The character seems very naive for a civil rights attorney in their 30's or 40's . The police did what? The war on drugs is actually bad? Like she's college freshman finding out about this stuff.

I note when they are doing it, but it still makes it difficult for me to follow. Related, I may be stupid.
I have noticed the same thing about the Black Civil Rights attorney. She just walks around and talks to people, and it is always a stilted conversation.
Josh Charles looks rough on the show. That is the point, but it is still a little jarring.

I bet you didn’t even notice Julia Garner is in it.

I am through episode 4, 2 to go. Unless the last two episodes are amazing, this is just going to be an OK series.
I think they tried to have way to many characters for a 6 episode series. If its universe was going to be this big in scope you need at least 13 episodes. You spend some time with a character, think he is going to be important and don't see him again for an episode and a half.
Along the same lines, unless Josh Charles character has a ton of screen time in the last two episodes I have no idea why he agreed to be on this show.
I finished this series. The last episode did a good job resolving everything, so it elevated the series to pretty good to me. The story was disjointed with no real flow because of all the flashbacks. It was essentially 4 episodes of look all this bad shit that the cops did, and then resolving them in the last episode and a half. I wonder if David Simon wanted more episodes and HBO would only give him 6.

{Spoiler} I did not see it coming that Marlo was going to off himself.
I will try to finish this. I probably have to start over, ive been halfway thru ep 2 for over a week.
The Che Show is so great. Very strong rec. The hospital skit in episode 2 is one of the funniest sketches ive seen in awhile. I think i watched it like 6 times.

Is this your usual “grade a show on a curve because it’s SNL” rating system?

I watched a few eps of the Che show he's talking about. It's funny.
