Honestly in my 94 rankings I think I caved a bit because I didn't want Yokel and theny to yell at me. Personally I prefer Ace Ventura to Dumb & Dumber.
I can get on-board with that, and maybe even take it a step further by saying that my favorite Jim Carrey movie is Ace Ventura 2.
1994's up there with 1984 for great movie years, right? Someone (UEM) do a top 5 years for movies.
Strictly comedy or all encompassing?
All encompassing. 94 had the aforementioned comedies in addition to Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, Shawshank, Lion King, and Quiz Show. And PCU was 94 as well if we want to put that in the comedies list.
84 is a murderer's row though: Karate Kid, Ghostbusters, Footloose, Beverly Hills Cop, Gremlins, Police Academy, and Purple Rain. Also: Revenge of the Nerds, Amadeus, Terminator, Nightmare on Elm Street, Romancing the Stone, Spinal Tap, Children of the Corn, Sixteen Candles, and Splash.

Once Upon a Time in America, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Neverending Story, the quite underrated Top Secret!
Agreed. I still think 84 warrants inclusion. And I forgot 39 was GWTW AND Wizard of Oz. I doubt there is another year with two transcendent movies like that at the top of their list.
