Top 5 Movies Edition

I almost threw in a "never watched, never gonna watch: Marriage story"

From my kids watching the Home Alone series during the early pandemic times, I can verify she is in Home Alone 3.

Match Point is the only good Woody Allen movie.

I disagree with the Woody Allen comment;

5.  Sleeper.   Futuristic comedy.   Funny segment about Howard Cosell in it.

4.  Annie Hall.   Some people think this is great.   It is fine.

3.  Midnight in Paris.   Kind of strange and you have to suspend belief, but I really enjoyed it.

2.  Crimes and Misdemeanors.   Alan Alda is fantastic in this.  If it bends it is funny.  If it breaks it is not funny.

1.  Bananas.   With the caveat I haven't seen this since college, I found it hilarious.   Some truly great and funny scenes.  Howard Cosell is in it again.   

This ia a little more than a top 5, but here's my crack at best comedies each year since 2000 (my movie watching went way down after I had kids) Couple stronger years I noted a few HMs. If the year is off, blame google because I literally just typed in best comedy (year) and went down the list.

2009: The Hangover (HM--Fantastic Mr Fox)
2010: Hot Tub Time Machine (HM--The Other Guys)
2011: Bridesmaids (HM--Horrible Bosses)
2012: 21 Jump Street (HM--That's My Boy)
2013: The Heat
2014: 22 Jump Street
2015: Spy (HM-Vacation, Get Hard)
2016: Pop Star
2017: Thor Ragnorak (SNS, it's the best one. It's a weak year, the next best one is probably Jumanji)

2020: The only one I could really even nominate here would be Borat 2.

I'd rather watch Jackass than Van Wilder but it absolutely deserves mention.  Waiting should have been mentioned but I don't feel that bad for leaving it off.  I think you may just have a crush on Ryan Reynolds.

As I shouted, this list was put forth essentially by googling by years and they only display about 10 movies per page.  I had to backtrack for a couple that I needed to list (Hot Tub Time Machine, Walk Hard).

Role Models is absolutely #2 in 2008 and would have won a lot of years on there.  It's not as good as Stepbrothers.
