dong: Somebody start a top 5 movies thread and do a top 5 movies of someone.
LDot: Pick an actor/director and I shall dong
dong: Um, in honor of her trip to the nail salon, Scarlett Johannson
so turns out I haven't seen many of her non-MCU movies so.... here we go!
#5: Horse Whisperer--ha, completely forgot she'd been in a movie with Robert Redford before Winter Soldier, anyway, haven't seen many so place this one here
#4: Lost in Translation--never seen, gets lots of love, has Bill Murray, so I'll roll the dice with it here
#3: The Presitge--She's a third/fourth wheel in it but great movie, she's hot in it, and she's hotter than the other eye candy (Rebecca...Hall? from The Town [of course, Boston])
#2: all her Black Widow appearances--She's good! She could wrap her legs all around and toss me like she does in these movies any time.
#1: Lucy I have not seen this outside of her clothes-free scenes, 5 stars, would watch again

I have only seen Lost in Translation of those mentioned. It is not a great movie, but it is interesting if that makes any sense.
I think Don Jon deserves at least an honorable mention. It was an entertaining film.
Never to be mentioned for any reason: Marriage Story.
ETA: I rewatched The Town recently. Rebecca Hall is really hot in that movie.

Prestige is the only one from LDOT's list that I've seen. Maybe I've seen her in something Marvelous, but I honestly don't remember. I also saw Don Jon; I feel like it sucked. Other movies I've seen her in, based on a quick perusal of her filmography:
He's Just Not That Into You: I don't remember her being in this, or really anything about it.
Vicky Cristina Barcelona: This was OK-ish. Woody Allen flicks are weird.
Match Point: This was OK-ish and about tennis. Woody Allen flicks are weird.
Oh yeah, I'd seen Home Alone 3 but a) barely remember it, b) some guy who's always a russian/eastern euro bad guy was the head bad guy, c) if she's in it, it's news to me
Is He's Just Not That Into You where the gif of her covering herself iwth the sheet comes from?
This ia a little more than a top 5, but here's my crack at best comedies each year since 2000 (my movie watching went way down after I had kids) Couple stronger years I noted a few HMs. If the year is off, blame google because I literally just typed in best comedy (year) and went down the list.
2000: Road Trip 2001: Super Troopers (HM--NATM, Zoolander) 2002: Jackass 2003: Old School 2004: Anchorman (HM--Mean Girls, Napoleon Dynamite, Dodgeball, Girl Next Door) 2005: Wedding Crashers (HM--40 YOV) 2006: Talladega Nights (HM--Borat, Idiocracy, Jackass 2) 2007: Superbad (HM--Walk Hard--toughest call on this whole list) 2008: Stepbrothers (HM--Tropic Thunder, Role Models, Pineapple Express) 2009: The Hangover (HM--Fantastic Mr Fox) 2010: Hot Tub Time Machine (HM--The Other Guys) 2011: Bridesmaids (HM--Horrible Bosses) 2012: 21 Jump Street (HM--That's My Boy) 2013: The Heat 2014: 22 Jump Street 2015: Spy (HM-Vacation, Get Hard) 2016: Pop Star 2017: Thor Ragnorak (SNS, it's the best one. It's a weak year, the next best one is probably Jumanji) 2018: Game Night 2019: Good Boys 2020: The only one I could really even nominate here would be Borat 2.
also Van Wilder wins 2002 with an HM thrown to Undercover Brother
2013 was a terrible year for comedies
also I take Role Models in 2008, criminally underrated movie
I'd rather watch Jackass than Van Wilder but it absolutely deserves mention. Waiting should have been mentioned but I don't feel that bad for leaving it off. I think you may just have a crush on Ryan Reynolds.
As I shouted, this list was put forth essentially by googling by years and they only display about 10 movies per page. I had to backtrack for a couple that I needed to list (Hot Tub Time Machine, Walk Hard).
Role Models is absolutely #2 in 2008 and would have won a lot of years on there. It's not as good as Stepbrothers.
Waiting should be 1A in 2005. Agree that WC is better but Waiting is GD hilarious.
Role Models is not criminally underrated by you guys, you fuckers mention it constantly. Its ok but not that funny, sheesh.
2009 I give it to Bruno, no question. I saw that alone on my way to North Jersey to hang out with Untouch, Gay, and Durd. I laughed so hard at that film.
