ETA: I’ve legitimately never heard of The Conversation. Is it an actual good movie, or are the other 3 just so good that it’s a great 4 movie run regardless of what the 4th one is?
Considered one of the all time greats. One of Hackman’s main starring roles, plus Harrison Ford (might be his first movie?), Duvall, and Cazale.
Sounds good. Balls and I will consider previewing it for our next podcast.
Spielberg is interesting one, multiple all-time 3 movie runs but then fucked up by the 4th
Jaws-Close Encounters-1941-Raiders-ET-Temple of Doom-Color Purple (not my cup of tea but maybe his best 4 straight)
Last Crusade-Hook-Jurassic Park-Schindlers List
Amistad-Saving Private Ryan-AI-Minority Report-Catch Me If You Can
Hook isn't awful, but it definitely pales next to the rest of that run.
That 70s/80s run may never be topped (and that includes Hitchcock). Jaws gave rise to the summer blockbuster, Raiders is a perfect movie, and ET is a children's classic. And The Color Purple is great. Whoopi, Oprah, and Danny Glover were all fantastic.
This post made me look up renowned director Ed Norton to see if he had a 3 movie streak in him, but it wasnt in a row, so I was wrong. American History X, Flight Club, 25th Hour.
Anyway here is some list by WILL LEITCH of Norton's top pieces, and #1 is 25th Hour! I cant believe it, i feel like no one has seen it besides me and bacon. Its def the best. I am pleasantly surprised.

I have discussed my enjoyment of 25th Hour with you on multiple occasions. Shows how much you value our friendship.
I maintain that Primal Fear is his best performance (also fuck this guy for calling it an "otherwise-mostly-pedestrian film"), followed by American History X. But 25th Hour is definitely up there.
I think he's overrating the Glass Onion performance because it's the reason for making the list, but I do agree with him that it's hard to picture anyone else playing that role as well as he did.
Flush: nearl--top 5 wallace shawn films in the top 5 movie thread
HM 2: My Dinner With Andre...I've not seen it but it is one of those goon movies that every critic always ranks as some sort of masterpiece. I may watch it one day.
HM 1: BoJack Horseman...I don't really know anything about this show or his appearance in it, but I've been reliably told that if you make it through the first 150 episodes, it then becomes the funniest thing that you've ever seen in your life and you really should drop everything else that you are doing and watch this now because it's so funny and witty and brilliant. Also, it's not a movie so technically it's totally ineligible for this list but, I mean, how could I not?
5. Admission...Tina Fey (possibly at her peak). He's the kind-hearted boss.
4. The Incredibles...Not as famed as his other voice work, but it's a heck of a fun series.
3. Clueless...Coffee goonery, Alicia Silverstone, and teachers loving someone the same age as themselves. This movie has it all.
2. Toy Story series...When you think "voice of a T-Rex", naturally you'd end up with Wallace Shawn
1. The Princess Bride...First ballot Hall of Fame performance.

I have nothing to add, as this seems like the correct ranking. I just wanted to share that I laughed a lot at your Bojack Horseman comments.

I had forgotten about Bray's Bojack lectures. Was that the beginning of the unfunny comedy era? That, Louie, that manchick Farva liked? Gary Gulman? (sry wolf lol)
