I'm assuming that's sarcastic. That being said, we were planning on eating a real meal at Ommegang and it was a $12 pretzel that was HUGE. They also sold "Cuomo Chips" to get around the food rule that are 50 cent bags of potato chips that have about 3 chips each in the bag.
I encountered this in Boston too. What is the Covid-related rationale for having to order food with alcohol?
I'm not sure of the law in NY but in CT only restaurants are allowed to be open, not bars. Selling food or having a food truck makes them a "restaurant"

There is none. It's the same as closing bars at 10pm. The fuck is the difference? Does the virus only infect drinkers with empty stomachs late at night?

We went to Urban Lodge brewery a couple months ago, and they were apparently allowed to get around that bar/restaurant thing simply by having an app that allowed you to order delivery from one of 4 local restaurants.

My favorite big titted bartender told us that they have massive rushes at like 930 due to the early closing times that we had previously. Good thing they're catching the virus off guard like that.

My experience is that some places are ignoring the law and others are actually making you order something before they will serve you any alcohol.

I can sorta see the 10pm logic. Anyone out after 10 is almost certainly there just to get shitfaced. People are gonna lower their inhibitions at that point - no masks, no social distancing, possibly giving Balls a reach-around in the parking lot. So while it's retarded on the surface, I at least get the intention of mitigating risk by not having a bunch of drunks drooling all over each other all night. The food thing is pointless.

That is classic. I am glad all of these rules are well thought out and keeping us safe.

We have the 'gotta serve food to sell liquor' rule just as a matter of course, it has always existed here. We do not have the 'you have to buy food to drink' Cuomo rule though. One of my favorite dives has 50 packets of ramen sitting on the back of the bar to comply with the state law.
This weekend, nothing really planned because we have prep work to do for next week.
On Tuesday we are driving down to New Mexico to visit my BIL and his family. They rent a shit ton of land in the middle of nowhere New Mexico outside of Las Vegas, NM. We are going to be staying in a camper on their property for 3-4 days. We don't have anything in particular planned except hopefully some Mexican food on Thursday for Thanksgiving and doing some hiking and whatnnot.

Sounds like a nice little time, other than appropriating Mexican culture on a day that celebrates the genocide of indigenous people. But you do you. Seriously though, a few days in the middle of nowhere sounds fucking awesome.
Pup 1 has 3 hockey games scheduled for this weekend. As he just missed 7 games while quarantining the past 2 weekends, and the state is shutting down youth sports for 2 months starting Monday, Wolfette and/or I will be breaking our own quarantine to bring him to these games. We will of course make an effort to stay away from people and will wear masks at all times. But fuck it, I'm not making him miss more games right now (and also I hate how much money we've already wasted on missed games). Feel free to judge us for this decision if you must.

Last night I learned that New Mexico is our fifth largest state. I dont think i would have ever guessed that.

I still wouldn’t guess it even after reading that.
