The Iron Mike Sharpe USA Fall 2021 Tour*

September

Sept 17 & 18 -- KC at my brother's house

Sept 19 -- drive to Black Hawk, CO -- poker at night

Sept 20 -- maybe a morning hike, afternoon poker, and then seeing Khruangbin in concert at Red Rocks amphitheater (5th row).

Sept 21 -- Drive to Rocky Mountain National Park, do some hiking, have dinner and stay in Estes Park

Sept 22 -- More Rocky Mountain National Park, specifically hiking this trail: www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/sky-pond-via-glacier-gorge-trail

Sept 23 -- Great Sand Dunes National Park, drive to Moab, UT

Sept 24 -- Canyonlands National Park, most likely hiking this trail: www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/chesler-park

Sept 25 & 26 -- Capitol Reef National Park. This will be the featured hike on one of the two days: www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/navajo-knobs-trail

Sept 27 -- Bryce Canyon National Park

Sept 30 -- arrive in Las Vegas for the 2021 WSOP

October

Be in Vegas all month. Tuesdays will be no gambling days. Will do long hikes at either:

Also in late October, I am going to Sedona, AZ for a Monday to do an easy day hike and then on Tuesday the plan is to hit the Grand Canyon and do this trail: www.alltrails.com/trail/us/arizona/plateau-point-trail-via-bright-angel-trail

It will be a 12 mile round trip with the last 4.5 miles uphill as you climb out of the canyon. Currently started training for it. A lot of the other hikes I'm taking in Sept and Oct will tell me if I will be able to do this one or not.

November

WSOP is still going on.

I think one Tuesday, I will drive a couple of hours to Death Valley National Park for a day

Nov 12 - Nov 15 -- bunch of dudes I went to college with are coming to Vegas. Got booths reserved at Westgate Sports Book.

Nov 15 or 16 -- start the drive to Houston, TX. Stop off at Guadalupe National Park and climb to the highest point in Texas: www.alltrails.com/trail/us/texas/guadalupe-peak-texas-highpoint-trail

Nov 17 or 18 -- arrive in Houston. The poker action is insane down there right now. A friend of mine was down there a month ago an she said some dude at her table pumped $22,000 into the game.

Nov 22 -- begin the drive back to STL. Haven't decided if I will do it in 1 or 2 days.

Have you done the Delicate Arch hike at Arches in Moab? If not, you should fit that in.

Have not. I did the Devils Garden loop last time at Arches. Probably won't get to Arches this trip. If I have more time / energy in Moab, I'm going to do a quick drive around the northern district of Canyonlands. That 11 mile hike im doing first is in the southern district.

It is an easy hike that doesn’t take long. It is worth the hype. The Arch is one of the coolest things I have seen. If you have a free morning or afternoon you should try to squeeze it in.

53-year-old Michelle Meder of Hudson, Ohio was hiking on a multi-day trip across the Hermit trail when she began feeling dizzy and disoriented. She fell unconscious and was pronounced dead by responding park rangers on Sunday.

The extreme heat is believed to have been a factor in her death.

I'll be there in late October. I'll be fine.

I might scrub the Joshua Tree / Palm Springs trip and do two more days in Utah or get to Vegas a day earlier depending on my friend's schedule. I seen that the Palm Springs Tramway that goes to Mt. San Jacinto State Park is closed in September for maintenance.

You might remember the Tram from GTA V.

When I was in Palm Springs in April, I wanted to do that but never fit in in.

Palm Springs is probably just ok for your activities. Great golf, but that is not your bag.

I am going to Moab this weekend. I will provide you a scouting report.

My co-chum-worker-pal just returned from a 2 week road trip, driving from Austin, TX, Massachusetts to Yellowstone Park, with stops at several other national parks. He says he really enjoyed himself.

My snark about the dumb lady dying aside, I'm actually very jealous of this activities you have planned. It sounds like something I would enjoy.
