Interesting thread. I think the comparisons to European countries might be a little bit of fun with statistics, where 1 or 2 really big events are skewing multi-year data but the frequency of shootings is probably a lot lower in those countries.
But the stuff further down in the thread about how the “blame republicans” narrative breaks down when you realize that the worst gun violence in America is and always has been in Democrat-run cities with pretty strict gun laws, and some of the reddest states with looser laws have very low shooting rates…. Iono, that seems like a pretty decent point to me. 76, please try to keep your pants on while reading that part.
I don’t have anything resembling a good idea to actually make an impact on this shit, but I’m quite confident that it’s a whole lot more complicated than “Republicans are scared to stand up the NRA.”

check the demographics of the inner cities and who they vote for….you’ll find your answer
I'm just astonished that this guy doesn't understand basic facts about entrances and exits.
I think “the left” is just straight up gaslighting with the way they’re pretending not to understand the one door thing. By no means do I think that this and this alone will make school shootings a thing of the past. But I haven’t seen a single good faith argument that points to a downside of the single point of entry policy. It’s all “bUt ThE fIrE mArShAlL!!!!!!!!11” nonsense that doesn’t even pretend to honestly debate the suggestion. I wish it wasn’t necessary in schools, but if we can have a single secure point of entry in every government building, why can’t we have it in schools too?
THAT BEING SAID… I admittedly only have firsthand experience with a small number of schools, but as the old adage goes, “if you see it in an affluent white CT suburb, you can rest assured it represents the whole country.” And my experience is that schools already do a pretty good job of keeping all the doors locked except the main entrance. So are Ted Cruz and company actually offering a new idea, or is this pretty much the norm already and some of these lunatics find a way in anyway?
so maybe this has been contradicted because half the info to come out has been contradicted, but last I saw,
Some observers were baffled by the abrupt way Escalon delivered Thursday’s most important new information — the fact that no officer confronted the gunman before he entered the school, contrary to what law enforcement officials had said previously.
so who wants to explain that to everyone's favorite restaurant wall critic
