Because of nothing else to watch, I’m watching the movie 1984.
It’s amazing.
They should update it where the Party does things like redefine unemployment or inflation. Maybe revise old news articles where someone is called the border czar?
But then again who in this day and age would actually fall for that?
Great post in the movies thread. You really do suck at this. #nodaysoff
it was a post about a movie.
I think UEM asked you to explain something you said in another thread.

I didn’t even know they made that into a movie.
Yep and honestly a weird movie but when you watch how they change old articles and the next day people just talk about it like it always was that way….its on Tubi

I read the book recently enough to remember the gist, but had no idea they made a movie from it. The “gaslighting” aspect of it really does seem a lot like the shit they’re trying to do today with just acting like they never said any of the shit that we all know they said.

its fucking amazing. Imagine if the Republicans came out and said “Trump never owned a casino” and people just nodded and said, “Trump never owned a casino”.
That’s the shit that’s going on and people are just like “yeah but Trump really seems like an asshole”
I watched a Netflix jawn tonight called Jexi. It’s like 5 years old and stars Adam Devine, some hot chick whose name I forget, and Ron Funches. it’s basically a comedy episode of Black Mirror. Guy gets a new cell phone, but it falls in love with him and tries to run his life and stuff.
It’s very very very very very very very very terrible and cheesy, but I also laughed like 781 times and it was sneaky goodish? Objectively bad movie by any normal standards, but fun and funny if you aren’t a faggot that takes movies too seriously.

You had me til the last sentence
Honestly that seems like the sentence that should have hooked you.

Now I have to find a new title for my movie about a sexy Jew.
The wipe and I went to see Inside Out 2 in the theater today. It was better than I expected. I enjoyed the "one of each flavor" diversity of Riley's friend group, especially the one girl who could have been either Asian or Latinx because we've only got 3 friends so one of you is going to have to double up. Also, who knew there were so many black women playing youth hockey in California? That part felt really authentic.

Plane movie reviews (movies I watched on the plane last week, not the movie Plane starring Gerard Butler )
American Fiction: Really enjoyed this one. Some outright hilarious stuff, great characters, just a very well done movie. TRIGGER WARNING--white people are the bad guys. TRIGGER TRIGGER WARNING--they're all sanctimonious libs.
Everything Everywhere All at Once: I was largely entertained but confused. Took me a bit to understand what was going on with the universe-jumping stuff. Overall a solid movie. Didn't this win Best Picture? That's crazy to me. I also think Jamie Lee Curtis won Best Supporting Actress for wearing a fat suit in this.
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare-- "Based on a true story" movie about a raid from WWII involving the first British special ops troops. I had read the book a few years back I think, I know they went way over the top with what actually happened, but it was entertaining enough, a solid Guy Ritchie action flick. Plus Reacher kills a lot of people with a bow and arrow. The main character was supposedly the inspiration for James Bond (Ian Fleming was one of the officers in charge of the department)
The Boys in the Boat-- Good sports movie. Another one where I had read the book so I knew the crux of the story, but I liked it a lot. The woman who played Jeanie Buss in the Lakers show is in this and looks extremely attractive.

I tried to watch American Fiction. I couldn't get into it. Lasted maybe the first 30 minutes.
