Did some random movie watching on my sabbatical this weekend:
Aliens--I'm not entirely sure I had seen this one all the way through. Enjoyed. Crazy how different it is from the original (which I prefer slightly). I was entertained.
The Iron Claw--Well acted but kind of pointless I guess? The story of the Von Erich family is crazy but also I'm not entirely sure it needed to be a movie. The youngest brother's story was rough. The dude from the Bear is WAY too much of a midget to be Kerry (so is Efron but at least he's jacked). I remember being blown away finding out that he had wrestled without a foot for years. In any case, good movie, probably won't rewatch it. Holy shit the dude who played Flair was awful.
Dune Part 2--Enjoyed this one, some great action scenes, plot made sense for the most part, actors were uniformly good.
I haven't seen any of those so I have no comment.
We watched Daddy's Home 2 with the kids yesterday. It was pretty funny. Not as good as the first one, but definitely entertaining.
One random thing that caught my attention: There's a scene near the end where everyone bursts out into song for some reason, and it seems like it's everybody's real singing voices. Except for Wahlberg - to my knowledge the only cast member who ever made a living as a professional musician - whose voice is very obviously dubbed over. Made me laugh.
2 oldest were gone last night at a birthday party so the wife and I actually had time to watch a movie. We watched Hit Man on Netflix. Really enjoyed it. The main woman in it is one of the sexiest women I’ve ever seen, I’m in love. Adria Arjona. Glen Powell was good in it too. I guess it’s kind of a romcom but not a typical one. Would recommend.

That reminds me, I need to watch it. I tried a couple of weeks ago, made it 10 minutes but was too tired to pay attention.

Took the kids to Despicable Me 4 on Saturday. They really liked it. Defintiely good for a handful of laughs for adults too IMHO. If you've found any en-joyment in any of the previous installments in this franchise, I suspect you'll find this one to be downright watchable as well.
I was just looking for a random movie to watch while the wife was out of town and happened upon Godzilla Minus One. Never been a Godzilla person, but I had heard it was good so I figured why not. It was…kind of incredible? Honestly one of the best movies I’ve seen recently. They’re coming out with a black and white version of it next month and I’m considering watching that.
One tip-I despise subtitles but don’t watch the dubbed version, just go Japanese with subtitles.

Over the weekend the oldest was up our asses about watching Grown Ups 2. I got legitimately upset at just how awful it was. It wasn't clever dumb like Grandma's Boy or anything, it was straight up hard to watch. Just brutally unfunny.
I mean honestly, why is everyone able to go hang out at KMart on a work morning?
AND Fugly JENNINGS IS FUGLY!!!!! Awful White Female Liberal: Eat a dick kite

Because of nothing else to watch, I’m watching the movie 1984.
It’s amazing.
They should update it where the Party does things like redefine unemployment or inflation. Maybe revise old news articles where someone is called the border czar?
But then again who in this day and age would actually fall for that?

We went as a family to this last night. It started out rough but the last half or so was pretty entertaining.
