That movie is annoying because the elevator pitch is pretty good and the execution is as bad as it could possibly be.
the prequels and the sequels are horrible* and the sooner we all agree on this, the sooner we can all move on and pretend they never happened
*Force Awakens is ok to decent as a soft reboot but considering all the possible Qs it offers up that all get ignored (shocking in a JJ Abrams production, i know) and that is ultimately is a shoddy remake whose time spent watching it would be better spent on just watching Star Wars, that it's worse and worse upon revisiting
what if I told you there was a movie about a guy growing up in Cleveland, goes to war, returns to Cleveland and starts robbing banks to support his drug addiction? You would probably think that is a movie I would enjoy. You would be wrong if it is this movie with that plot:
I cannot stress enough how boring and formulaic this movie was.
I turned it off about halfway through. It is long too.
I began watching Mean Girls 2 last night, but I made it like 10 mins in before i bailed. I was drinking, and i just wanted to watch meaningless sports and msnbc manufacture fake racist storylines.
Coming 2 America was fine. The CGI was irritating, but it was a fun, dumb trip down memory lane.
I watched this a couple nights ago. Agree it was just 'fine'--probably won't watch again but it wasn't a complete waste of time. Leslie Jones was surprisingly not overly irritating. I think I laffed the most at Randy Watson's appearance/performance.

That's a great point, my dear sweet friend of friends. Jones was pretty tolerable, and her partying with Lisa was actually funny.

Speaking of which...Lisa has held up really well.
Forgot something else--I enjoyed the reference to the Dukes.

Watched the Anna Kendrick vehicle Stowaway on Netflix. Excellent premise. Bad ending. First hour had me really engaged, mission to Mars accidentally brings a mechanic, air supply becomes problem, etc. But then it falls apart with a pretty standard hero ending. Could have taken it so many better directions. Meh-, cool visuals though.
The cast is pretty spectacular as Amy Adams, Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Wyatt Russell, Anthony Mackie, and Brian Tyree Henry all show up. Yet, somehow it was just not good. There's some spoilery twists and turns that are telegraphed a mile and a half away so watch it with your wives so you can look like a hero when you call the shots.
It's not good though.
Hard rec for balls.

I read the book last month after hearing some buzz about the show. I got to the BIG twist about the protagonist, and just quit and read what happened. So pretty much a no on the book, too. Not sure how Adams does with the role but the protagonist is annoying in the book too.
I have no idea who Gary Oldman would be playing in this. Pretty sure I can guess the rest. Mackie's the husband I assume, so Oldman must be the neighbor husband?
I watched Bad Trip on Netflix. It's directed by the guy who did Jackass, stars Eric Andre, basically a prank show stretched out to a full movie. Pretty funny though. Worth wasting some time on it.
