One of them made someone an annoying asshole to deal with, another helped players cheat and actively get better at the game. Real mystery how one draws the line between the two:
Yeah the retards who refuse to vote for the best players of all time probably haven't published their ballots.
Unless you're a look at me like Shaughnessy, yeah I agree. Looks like Ortiz will probably make it regardless.
Good call.
Some of these ballots are so confusing. I saw one earlier where the main question in the Twitter replies was "Why would he vote for Sosa and Ortiz but not A-Rod and Manny?" The defense seems to be something along the lines of "Those guys have a lot of years left on the ballot, but Sosa doesn't." Which would maybe make some sense, but this guy voted for 8 candidates. It's not like he was out of votes and said, "Meh, I'll revisit those guys next year."

I saw someone, maybe Jayson Stark (?) who I generally like and think he has pretty good opinions, differentiate A-Rod and Manny because essentially there is strong evidence they used after everyone said "ok, look we're going to crackdown on PEDs", as opposed to some of the other guys who were using when it was technically forbidden but everyone was happy to turn a blind eye to and rake in money off of like McGwire Sosa & Bonds.

Hmm, I can buy that. I've always been firmly in the "I don't give a flying fuck who used what" camp, but there is some logic to differentiating between the guys who clearly kept using after they started testing and the guys who did it when almost literally everyone did it.

For some reason I felt like it was the first time I saw someone differentiate it like that and I thought it made a lot of sense. I'm still of the opinion that it doesn't matter and they should get in if they were good enough.
