It has everything to make it an all timer, but I'm with you, every time I watch I feel let down.
I found it to be pretty enjoyable. It’s only about 18% as good as Simmons thinks it is, but I like it.
wastes too much time on side lives stuff, Is Ashley Judd topless? No? Then don't care to see her bitching at Val Kilmer for a 5th time about his gambling. Is Natalie Portman a whiny teenager? Yes? Then don't need to see her 3rd meltdown in an hour over earrings or whatever. Is Al Pacino's wife (live in girlfriend?) whatever she is attractive? No? Then doooooooon't caaaaaaaaaaare, Definitely could have been 30ish min shorter. That said the action scenes are top notch
Like if Gladiator decided to introduce Proximo's wife and spend 20 minutes of her bitching at him for wasting money on queer giraffes then Commodus' nephew got 5 more scenes where he just whined that his tunic was the wrong color and didn't fit right, none of that, killed Maximus' wife after like 20 seconds of screen time and got right to the good stuff
HM--The Client, The Chamber--I remember Susan Sarandon being good in The Client and Gene Hackman is of course great in The Chamber.
5. The Pelican Brief--As we discussed yesterday, this isn't super memorable but I believe it was enjoyable. Plus they basically took out the sexual stuff between the two leads because of mixed-race controversies. 4. The Firm--A solid Tom Cruise performance, Hackman is great as always, Jeanne Tripplehorn is one of the most underrated hot actresses of all time. Also extremely rare movie where they changed the ending of the book and improved on it. 3. The Runaway Jury--The change from cigarettes to guns as the focus of the suit works well. One of the better Cusack roles. 2. The Rainmaker--Really underrated flick. Francis Ford Coppola directing, Matt Damon and Danny DeVito being entertaining, Jon Voight as the bad guy. 1. A Time to Kill---just a fantastic movie. Great story, moves along, everyone is sweaty. Great cast too. Sandra Bullock has never looked better.

Time to Kill, Firm, and Client are the only ones I really remember. I agree with the order you've ranked those relative to each other. I thought The Lincoln Lawyer was Grisham too, but it wasn't, so I won't add that to my list. Good talk.
5. Magnolia...I remember not liking it at all. Might need to rewatch.
4. The Master...Meh. Hoffman is good though.
3. Punch Drunk Love...It was good but is mostly remembered as the movie where people found out that Adam Sandler can act
2. Boogie Nights...Really good movie but Simmons has convinced too many people that it is better than it is. I'm pretty much willing to watch it at any time though
1. There Will Be Blood...I know that people think that this is boring but I think that it's a masterpiece. One of my all-time favorites.

Movies that I know I've seen but can't really remember anything about them: The Paper One Good Cop Speechless
The Honorable Mentions: Jack Frost Gung Ho Herbie Fully Loaded My Life Mr. Mom Multiplicity Birdman (or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) Batman Returns Cars Johnny Dangerously SpiderMan: Homecoming The Other Guys
The Top Five: 5. Night Shift...the movie that put Keaton on the map and cemented his youthful, manic-energy comedy style 4. Jackie Brown...strong showing in a QT movie and a role he later reprised uncredited in Out of Sight making them a part of the same universe 3. Batman...Not so much a great movie now but a really, really big deal when it came out 2. Beetlejuice...A-lister at this point in his career 1. Spotlight...spectacular movie despite a not-pleasant topic, a possible fave for mags

I've said this before, but I probably need to give Jackie Brown another shot at some point. I very much enjoy QT movies, but this one just didn't do it for me when I first saw it 20-odd years ago. And I never saw Night Shift so I'd probably slide Birdman and The Other Guys into my top 5, but I think you nailed the top 3.
