were people making this complaint? i thought that was more nba. my impression is people just don't care nearly as much anymore. it seems like noone's been talking about baseball at all, not sure what they can do to turn it around. Still incredibly low and a big fall, but 2016 was a very highly rated series. As noted in the story Game 7 was the highest rated baseball game since 1991, and the ratings were pretty similar to this year the last time the Rays were in the world series.

Underrated part of this is just how badly MLB fucks up the marketing of the game on a regular basis.
As mj said, the Rays were involved. Literally no one except Dick Vitale cares about them. There was a zero percent chance this was going to put up any kind of major ratings.
