I think I agree with the parents here. Guess it somewhat depends on the kids' ages but I certainly wouldn't be telling our kids that we won the lottery. I don't even know if I'd tell my wife.

Yeah, I sort of agree with the parents here and think Pat went a little overboard with his reaction, but good parents would use this as an opportunity to teach fiscal responsibility. Isn't that what being a parent is about--setting a good example and establishing good behaviors?

I laughed at "I don't even know if I'd tell my wife." I think I agree, btw. My kids are already spoiled little dickheads who think money grows on trees; if I suddenly came into millions and they knew about it, they'd be insufferable. I do kind of agree with the point I think Pat is going for though; if you think having money just means your kids are gonna be lazy shits who wait around to inherit, you're probably not a very good parent.
Also he seems to have completely missed the hilarious wordplay. Being a waiter is indeed an honorable living, but these parents aren't afraid their kids are going to make a living waiting tables; they're afraid their kids are going to spend their lives waiting for their parents to die and leave them millions. Good reading comprehension, Pat.
Friday morning on the school bus, one of P2's chum-palbuds took out a little package of Nutella from his lunchbox and gave it to another kid. Somehow this turned into all the kids in the back of the bus fooling around and trying to wipe Nutella on each other. They were later called in to speak with the Assistant Principal, who informed them that while this behavior would be inappropriate regardless, it's especially bad because what if one of those kids had a nut allergy and you killed them by wiping Nutella on them. Everyone involved was suspended from the bus for Friday afternoon, today, and tomorrow. Seems like a pretty extreme over-sentencing IMHO.
Now we have to take turns car-pooling with Lincoln's parents (board-famous Jess and Patrick) for a couple days because our kids aren't allowed on the bus. I'm told that one kid's parents just said "Yeah I'm not driving him to school" so they caved and said he can ride the bus but has to sit in the front row like a loser-ass kindergartener. The 4th kid involved has one of those psycho Asian tiger moms, so I assume she beat the shit out of him.

Good times all around.
They got to leave the house about 25 minutes later than usual this morning, got home earlier than normal, and will likely have a snow day tomorrow and no one will remember the second day of their punishment by Wednesday so they’ll go back on the bus. And I got to drive to school and sit in the pickup line for 15-20 minutes this afternoon. I think they really learned their lesson.
Yeah I think so. The pickup line today at elementary school seemed like it was maybe 50-60 cars and there’s over 400 kids in the school. My oldest rides his bike a lot when it’s nice out because there’s a bike path from our neighborhood that makes it just over a mile to the middle school, but it’s more like 2 miles to drive so he’s eligible to take the bus. Seems like most kids there take the bus too.

Did you grab some Starbucks before hitting the pickup line?
