After the game, I gathered 6-7 kids for a talk to let them know that they would be dressing for the varsity game tonight. I explicitly said that they will probably not get into the game but that we wanted them to start getting the experience of Friday nights.
One of the kids texted the head coach this morning....
Hey coach, I was asked to dress out for tonight's game and was wondering if it's mandatory bc I'm pretty beat down from yesterday's game, if so I'll dress out
I just can't
Isn't it a little racist to call it Black Friday? - Joy Behar

Putting on clothes was going to be too much, tough scene at the lake.
UEM not to submarine your thread but I went to a HS football game tonight for the first time in over ten years.
I was shocked that my daughters HS runs primarily a QB Option offense. (Keep in mind I’m just using madden terms). The team they played ran a more traditional offense and I think they got lucky because the other teams HB got injured in the 2nd half on a TD run.
My kids HS got up 14-0 at half, the other team tied it up 14-14. They won 28-22.
It was a good and well played game imho.
Here you go UEM, I figure you’d like this. Some Twitter highlights and a game write up

Whole lotta white guys. Nice to see you out there supporting and enjoying.
As for our contest...
The newspaper guys both picked us as slight favorites, but I felt pretty good going in and planned on being very aggressive on offense.
We kicked off to open the game, but our low line drive kick hit one of their players and we recovered on their 42. Called four verticals on the first play and hit the single side receiver for the tud. 8-0.
Forced a punt, pieced together a quick drive with two quick passes with YAC, then took a 16-0 lead on a 29-yard TD run on deuce counter.
They scored on a big run where they out-schemed us with a motion and QB run....really good play to take advantage of our blitzing. 16-7.
We fumbled back to them on a jet sweep, but picked off a pass on the next play and returned the ball to their 25. One play later, hit a slant behind a vertical for another score. 24-7.
Forced a punt and got stuck on our own six facing a third-and-twenty after a bad snap and penalty. Handing off to RB on inside zone and dude took it 94 for a score. Up 32-7.
Another stop, another score, one-yard plunge by RB. 40-7.
Last drive of the half, caught them in a full blitz with a RB screen that netted us another tud. 48-7 at the break.
Long halftime (homecoming).
They kicked to us to open the second half. However, we noticed a huge group of kids running towards the exit away from the concession stand. Kinda looks like a gun run. Assistant Principal who announces the game starts yelling on the PA to "clear the stadium, the game is cancelled" (with not enough knowledge of what is happening, by the way). They send out team and band to the other side of the field and coaches scramble to get their wives and children to some place safe.
Refs officially call the game and leave.
Story 1 from AD: Two kids were playing around and a female cop went in to break up the scene. When she found herself crowded and outnumbered, she reached for her taser and the crowd started running.
Story 2 from bystander: Someone in the crowd reached for the female cop's gun so crowd ran.
Story 3 from cop: The assistant principal panicked, no one told her to clear the stadium, and the situation was never in need of getting out of hand.
Who knows?
We might play the second half on Monday night or we might be done. There's a conference call today to decide.
Halftime stats:
RB has 9 carries for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns with 3 receptions for 55 yards and a score QB is 11 of 12 for 177 yards and three touchdowns.
Team has rushed for 213 and thrown for 177 (total 390).
