I went skiing at Deer Valley Saturday. It was fun. I took a bit of a nasty spill when I encountered some ice at the top of the run. No injuries.
Deer Valley used to have great customer service, but it is not the same.
I received a gift card from Deer Valley for the balance of money I had with them for locals passes. So I was going to use that for part of my lift ticket. A lift ticket is $249 before sales tax which is insane.
I give my gift card, and the guy appears to run it. He then asks me how much is on it. I tell him $194. He swipes it a few more times, goes in the back and comes back saying the card has a zero balance, and he has run it twice.
I tell him that is impossible, because I received it in the mail with the stated amount, and have not used it. I tell him, why would I make up $194? If I wanted to steal I would at least make up an amount that covers the lift ticket.
He tells me that he is not accusing me of anything, but I have to pay for the lift ticket as there is no balance on the gift card. I tell him this has to be Deer Valley's error. He goes in the back again.
He comes back and says there is not $194, but $196. He admits it was their error.
We get there as it opens for lunch, first ones in line. The hostess tells us there is a 45 minute wait. I thought we were on punk'd. She says there are a lot of reservations. We sit at the bar.
There were multiple empty tables throughout our lunch.
