Super Mario Bros: Very entertaining. All the random 80s/90s nostalgia stuff sprinkled throughout was fun too; kudos to them for giving the adults some stuff to like in a children's film. I'm already sick of hearing P2 sing the Peaches song though (but it did allow us to easily identify that song in one of ln's trivia questions).
Little Mermaid: It was... fine? Like most of these live action remakes, it was entirely unnecessary, but they did an OK job with it. As a non-lunatic, I'm not mad that Ariel is black (although I do think it's 100% forced pandering nonsense). And that Halle Bailey... hachi machi. I found some of the CGI disorienting. Like the way they used real people with fake mermaid bodies and put them in the ocean with a bunch of CGI creatures around them... It was done well from a purely technical standpoint, I guess, but at times I found it tough to watch. Also I fucking HATED Javier Bardem as King Triton. He's a tremendous actor and there was nothing particularly bad about his performance, but he just felt wrong for the role and all of his scenes sucked. All things considered, this was a perfectly cromulent use of 2 hours on a rainy day, but it was certainly nothing special.
Finally watched Top Gun Maverick ln. This is the biggest improvement from original to sequel in cinematic history, and frankly I can't even think of a close second. The first one is a legitimately bad movie that everyone pretends is awesome because they were like 11 the first time they saw it and thought planes were cool. This one is actually a good movie with way better flight scenes thanks to modern technology and such, and something resembling a plot. It obviously wouldn't be good if the first one didn't exist to set the stage, but I really can't get over how much better this was.
The one thing that really ground my gears was early on when Ed Harris gets out of his car and stands under the plane as it takes off. The plane's draft like shakes the building that he's standing next to, and he just stands there like it's nothing. This was fucking absurd and made me think the whole movie was gonna be ridiculous, but they turned it around. Good job, movie people.
Saw the new Mission Impossible and thought that it was a fantastic summer popcorn flick.
I saw a making-of clip the other day in which they talked about Cruise jumping his motorcycle off the cliff like seven times to get the shot. It was about 4 seconds worth of the movie, feels like they probably got what they needed on the first, imo.
I've never been much of a Hayley Atwell mark but, oh my dog, did she look good in this.

I started watching Till last night (you know, "Emmitt Till, cement shoes"). I doubt ill finish but i got thru like 20-30 mins, up til the point where whities took him. I didnt care for the girl that had him killed, he was paying the bitch a compliment, sheesh.
Took the kids to a sneak preview of TMNT this afternoon Legitimately hilarious. I L’d out loud OL a whole bunch of times. They made April black because 2023, but otherwise I have no complaints. Almost all of you would like this movie.

Watched Knock at the Cabin on Saturday night. Weird movie. Still a dumb title. Pretty entertaining though, anchored by Bautista, as we would all would have expected. Fairly unpredictable, moved at a nice clip, not a bad watch.
Took the kids to see Super Mario Brothers today. An absolute shit ton of Nintendo and/or Mario references, to the point that I know I didn't catch them all. Not a really funny kids movie but entertaining, looks awesome, etc. My kids, despite never really having played a ton of Mario games (or Nintendo games in general) enjoyed it.
I also watched Knock at the Cabin and thought that it was above meh but not wholly good. A fine effort and interesting watch.
I watched this over the weekend. I thought it was pretty good. Was not expecting it to be good. I have to agree with about the title. I thought it was a teen slasher flick just based on the title.
I seen Barbie this weekend. I enjoyed it. I'm sure most of you would hate it.
considering it is a movie marketed to women and homosexuals based upon a little girls toy, I would expect the rest of us, who are neither women or homosexual to not be interested in the movie

Michelle Beadle didn't like it. Said it wasn't funny.
