Is Ben right? Id have to really look into this and give a shit to argue
I think he is exaggerating. Movies that people probably watched 5 years after they won best picture:
2009 The Hurt Locker
2012 Argo
2015 Spotlight
Hurt Locker was pretty good, I’ll give you that one. Argo was fine; there’s no reason to rewatch it. I didn’t see Spotlight, but I’m glad to see you want to watch the movie about raping kids as many times as you can.
Did you pick The Hurt Locker as a movie that people have rewatched that you yourself have never seen? That's good mj-ing.
Also, it seems like you're identifying the most traditional (read: MAWG) winners as good and everything else as bad.
I did. I believe the consensus is it is a good movie and Katherine Bigelow received the acclaim she deserved for that movie
I only identified a few. There were other MAWG winners that I left off: The King's Speech and Green Book. Green Book had a Black lead actor but it really was a white savior movie.
Also, Kay Adams looked fantastic at the Oscars last night:
of the best picture winners since 2000, i've seen:
Gladiator A beautiful Mind Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King The Departed
No Country is the only one of those I really want to see but as you can tell, I've really made an effort to try to
I've seen all of those (including No Country, but that was only within the past year so I can't give you shit for your lack of effort). I've also seen Hurt Locker, King's Speech, Argo, 12 Years a Slave, and Birdman.
There's nothing else on that list that I'm itching to see, but I'd certainly watch some of them. Good talk.
