The whole “marijuana is a gateway drug” thing is mostly bullshit. Smoking pot doesn’t mean you’re gonna do hard drugs next. But I’ve made the acquaintance of maybe a dozen or so drug addicts in my life, and every single one of them was a pothead first. I feel pretty confident in saying that Belushi was gonna find his way to something that killed him young, with or without his brother’s pot farm.
