Apparently sports cards are hot again, if you feel like digging through your old shit and putting them up for sale. Friend of mine has cash offers for a few cards he had appraised and put online. One in particular made me decide I'm grabbing mine the next time i go by my dad's house: he has an "exquisite collection" Mike Bibby, Chris Webber, Peja Stojakovic, Gerald Wallace card that someone offered him $1000 for. It's very rare apparently, but fucking...Bibby Webber Stojakovic and Wallace? I am SURE i have a card in my collection of that quality. hah. Also if my 1970 Willie Mays passes appraisal it could be worth up to $4000. Wild. (there were reissues of that card and i honestly have no idea if mine is an original or a reissue, i got it in the 90s from a card shop. if it's a reissue it's maybe worth $100). Anyway, i don't give a shit about these cards anymore so i'm happy to sell them during this current wave of desirability.

As with anything, make sure you are doing the scamming and not getting scammed. Those appraisals are sketchy. I hear sometimes you get back a slightly worse version of the card you send and they keep the better one

well that's the shitty part, the appraisal from a "reputable" company is $100...there's a discount for multiple appraisals but still, lot of faith in the holding power of the card's value while you wait for the appraisal to be completed

My brother is looking into it, I had texted him after I listened to the sports card guy that Simmons had on a podcast a couple weeks ago. I know for a fact that he has the Jordan rookie and he's kept that thing in a protective sleeve basically since he got it.
