The eve of the US Open returning to the home of American golf and no predictions yet? Pshaw.
Didn't get tix to Pinehurst this time around unfortunately. I went in 2014 and have also played #2 several times since (#hb) so I'll enjoy the action from home.
The course is going to be firm and fast and the greens are hilariously difficult if you're familiar with Donald Ross course design. It's also gonna be hotter than balls here this week--it's gonna be right around 90 the next 4 days in Pinehurst.
I'm going with Hideki Matsuyama to win this week. I think Scottie's putting keeps him from winning. The only other guys I'd consider are Bryson and Xander. My dark horse pick is Tommy Fleetwood.
Dang--should've gone with the Bryson pick. The Tommy Fleetwood pick...not so much.
Fun little tournament all around. Was pulling for Rory to win but missing 2 putts inside 4 feet down the stretch is an epic choke job. The one on 18 was especially brutal. Thought Bryson was in jail with his second shot on 18 but he proceeded to get up and down like NBD. Amazing stuff.
Here's Rory hightailing it out of the parking lot about 5 mins after Bryson sank the winning putt on 18. Classy.

My picks of Lowry and Glover were not good. Bryson and Rory are both great drivers, so that makes sense. However, Bryson only hit 5 fairways yesterday. That is crazy.
I get that SportsCenter anchors probably have a lot of free time for golf, but shooting 4 over at St Andrews seems pretty good.
Gotta stay out of the pot bunkers to shoot that well. Plus, if the wind isn't howling off the bay the course is pretty manageable. Still--4 over is damn good.
