So I think I must have only made it through 2 or 3 episodes of the first season the first time I tried to watch it because I didn't remember the other Marines really at all, at least the 2 bigger guys. I think I might have seen the first episode that they appear in.
ANYWAY, great first season, some genuinely hilarious moments though not really a comedy. Great tension in the season finale.
It's kind of strange how good Hader is in it, as well as Milton from Office Space. I get the sense that Noho Hank is kind of the break out guy from the show? He's entertaining but he's a weird fit to the overall tone of the show.
NoHo is definitely the breakout character early in the show and he provides the straight comedy (though it lessens over time).
The show becomes much more of a darker comedy in the subsequent seasons but remains very watchable. There is a Barry podcast hosted by Fennessey where he sits down with Hader after every episode, too. I've caught it 4 or 5 times and it's really interesting how insightful Hader is.
