My 2021 B1G preview. I'd say I've paid more attention this offseason than last offseason but less than normal. Let's start in the East:
1. The Ohio State University. I guess there's a chance that every unproven 5 star QB on their roster will suck, but that seems unlikely. I do think they could lose in the regular season. And I think the west champ will be better than normal.
Man it gets weird from here.
2. Penn State--I guess? They were fucking awful early on last year, but last year was a weird year. 3. Michigan--I guess? I was hoping someone would beat out Cade McNamara. 4. Maryland--I weirdly like this team. Tua's younger brother. Some good recruits. 5. Indiana--Best returning QB in the B1G and a really good coach, IMO. This week will be a big test at Iowa to begin the year. They get the upset there, and obviously this'll be way too low. 6. Rutgers--Yes, really. 7. Michigan State--Well, they've still got my favorite uniforms in college football.
The West.
1. Wisconsin--Mertz and a pretty easy schedule should be enough (they miss tOSU and get Iowa, Penn State, Michigan and Northwestern at home, how is that possible?). 2. Iowa--As I believe I mentioned here, this year's summer scrimmage was the first time that anyone could remember under Ferentz where the offense was ahead of the defense. And there are some really nice players on this defense. Petras is a huge question mark, he's got more physical ability than any Iowa QB I can remember since probably Chuck Long but man was he inaccurate at times. Kid's 6'5 233 though, so if he pulls it together, he's got some NFL potential. The offensive line is really, really young, but it's the OL at Iowa so, ok, that'll be fine. Really talented backs, some good WRs, special teams could be solid....I really like this year's team. They were mauling people at the end of last year. I know, COVID COVID COVID, but this is a talented team. 3. Northwestern--2 years ago I picked them to win the west because they were bringing in a guy from Clemson. He sucked, they sucked. Well, he's starting again this year. 4. Illinois--In Bielema we trust (did you know he has a Hawkeye tattoo?) 5. Minnesota--I never really like this team. Best RB in the B1G though. 6. Nebraska--Good lord what a terrible effort on Saturday. Adrian Martinez can move though. If they let him run, they'll upset some people. 7. Purdue--Remember when Jeff Brohm was a hot name in college football? I memba.
Some fairly entertaining OOC games-- Iowa vs Iowa State tOSU vs Oregon Michigan vs Washington Wisconsin vs Notre Dame Penn State vs Auburn

Not a lot to quibble with here.
I would move Indiana to 3rd in the East and Minnesota to 3rd in the West.

I like Indiana more than you. I definitely think that they are better than Michigan and Maryland. That QB is phenom.

Agreed--paired with a really good coach they're at least 3rd in the East. Hot take--they'd win the West this year.
