So I think UEM threatened to ban me if I didn't do a Big Ten preview. Power has already gone to the man's head. In any case, because this season seems like a completely fake thing, especially for the B1G, I've barely paid any attention to it at all, so my knowledge of what to expect is extremely limited outside of Iowa (what else is new? Ba dum cha).
The west is a mess. Nearly any team could win. I'm not sold on Minnesota being for real. I think it'll be Wisconsin. My dark horse is Purdue, I like that offense a lot. Plus their head coach is dying from COVID so they'll be motivated.
The East is going to be Ohio State followed by Penn State followed by Michigan followed by the rest.
I assume the winner of PSU-tOSU next week probably gets into the playoffs.
Overly detailed Iowa blurb: Replacing one of the best QBs in Iowa history (sad, I know). Petras looks good. Huge kid, prototypical NFL size. Probably the most loaded skill position guys in KF's tenure. Offensive line should be good, they lost Wirfs obviously but they plugged in an all B1G grad transfer from Indiana. Defensiviely, they got the MAC defensive player of the year (I think) as a grad transfer to help replace Epenesa. LBs will be fine as they usually are. Secondary is probably the scariest spot after losing their 2 best guys to the NFL. Iowa is never going to generate much pressure so when QBs have time they can be picked apart. I worry that will happen quite a bit this year. Specialists are good, ISM is a great kick returner, Duncan is the best kicker in the country, and I think we have 3 punters on scholarship.
Feels like a 5-3 year to me.
