Started in on the new James Andrew Miller book called Tinderbox. It's an oral history of HBO.
I had previously read his SNL & ESPN books.
Nice, I'll probably end up reading that one.
I believe the last Expanse book comes out next week.
My review of the HBO book that I posted on Goodreads:
2 out of 5 stars
I thoroughly enjoyed Miller's books on SNL and ESPN. This, however, was a long slog to get through.
70% of the book deals with corporate mergers and the power struggles of executives no one has ever heard of or care about.
If Miller would have kept the business content to 30% of the book and devoted the other 70% to the programming, this would have been a much stronger book.
Finished DREW's book about his collapse. It was decent. Probably not a rec to anyone here. The best parts were the oral history portions at the beginning of the book because of course DREW doesn't remember any of the events that surrounded his collapse. I believe only 3 Big Bad Orange Guy mentions, one of which is funny and the rest are throwaway. Overall, kind of a rambly book that ultimately ends up with the point of...well there's not really a point. Sounds like he was a real prick for a long time after his injury.

Finished the final Expanse book. How were they going to finish the series in just one final book?
Well, it was a good ride with the crew of the Rocinante and a satisfying end to the series as long as you don't spend too much mental energy thinking about the story.
My favorite part might have been the pull quote on the cover:
"Interplanetary adventure the way it ought to be written." -George RR Martin
What, with books that come out on a reasonable schedule?
It was really good. Some of the best books I have read in a long time. LDOT is really the poster to recommend these books to, but he has already read them. If you like history and have some time it is a strong recommend.
I also finished this:
Much easier reading. It is good, not great. Sometimes it feels like he is just summarizing Sports Illustrated articles from the era, which he is as it is a lot of his source material.
However, if you grew up in that time it is a fun read. Some of the best parts of the book are things I wouldn't think I really cared about: The Michael Jackson Victory tour, some of the Olympics stuff. Michael Jordan once again is one of the coolest athletes on the planet. Some good stuff on him in there.
For some reason, I had a tough time getting into it, but once I did it was very enjoyable. It is an interesting story, and Wright Thompson going off on tangents is entertaining. He throws in some Trump derangement syndrome nuggets at a few points.
Wright Thompson likes whiskey, college football and Bruce Springsteen. I think we would have a fun evening hanging out.
He talks about having his first child and the world, and says things like in the past 4 years I wonder if the world was a place I wanted to bring a child into, and stuff like that.
These TDS people can find ways to wedge Trump into anything.
