How Lucky-- Will Leitch's novel. It was good. Well written, not what I expected at all, it's mostly a mystery about a missing girl but there are layers. Couple random Deadspin last names thrown in for characters. I went in basically blind with the exception of Stephen King tweeting that it was really good, I'd recommend the same if possible, so I won't talk to much more about the plot than that. Meanders a bit, but overall, solid book.
The Premonition by Michael Lewis--Talks about how the pandemic response was created in this country (fun fact: the current plan was essentially formed after W read a book about the 1918 flu and got freaked out that we had zero plan). Very much lionizes the front-line people who were working to try to head off the pandemic but criticizes a number of the national folks involved (Newsom, Trump, basically everyone at the CDC as primary examples). Michael Lewis wrote it so its really well written and a fast read. Thought it was a little less interesting than The Fifth Risk, but matches up well with this. Would recommend to most, even though obviously there's a lot of COVID shit out there and I absolutely understand wanting to read just about anything else.

Billy Summers, the new Stephen King book. A sniper assassin decides to take one final contract. For the most part, no supernatural / horror stuff in the book. The stuff with the final boss at the end was very rushed. But the final chapter gives the tale a satisfying conclusion. Typical King page turner.

Anybody ever read the Robin Hobb books (Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin, Assassin's Quest...0/10 book names score)
I started the first one a few months ago, made it 100 pages and quit because it wasn't moving towards a discernable plot with any urgency. Finally got back to it last week and it improves a ton right where i quit. Raced through it and am now halfway through the second one, which is also very good. It is your standard fantasy hero's journey fare, but really well done.
I read a book. "Since we Fell" by Dennis Lehane of Mystic River/Gone Baby Gone/Shutter Island fame. Quite the page turner. I've really enjoyed everything I've read by him. Balls, you would like this. You might pretend the last 80-100 pages sucks, but the rest of it really reminded me a lot of the books you like by authors with slots.

TY. I may consider reading that after The Dilemma
The girls in the book club at work are reading We Were Never Here

I think I read that book but reading the description on Wikipedia, I'm really not entirely sure.
Lehane is absolutely on my Mount Rushmore of "I'll enjoy anything he writes."
Read The Last Duel, which is about the last judicially sanctioned duel in France (and the basis of the new Matt Damon flick). Pretty good. Short, quick read, a lot of the historical background was more interesting than the stuff around the duel itself, which is pretty straightforward. I was concerned given the coverage of the movie but I managed to successfully finish the book without being spoiled on the outcome. Overall, if you're into middle ages type stuff, I'd recommend it. It's a huge book, like 200 pages [/Hank] but goes fast.
