I am going to Ohio for a week, mj wants to know about it.
Driving to Kent, Ohio on Saturday, this will take approximately nine hours. I will go out to dinner that night with my mother, she will pay, it will be a small mom & pop type diner, most likely. I will be staying with my youngest sister, her husband, and three children probably through Monday or Tuesday.
On Sunday, my mother and I will attend a youth baseball tournament where the eldest of the three children will be playing. He is a sophomore in high school and a two-sport varsity athlete. I will joke him about not being athletic enough. The other two kids will likely hang out and do funny things.
On Monday, I will attempt to get some of the kids together to go see the Indians play the Baltimore Orioles.
If Monday doesn't work out, I will try again on Tuesday. I will either drive to Ashtabula that evening or on Wednesday morning.
I will stay at my middle sister's house through Friday night and will see some old high school friends, my best friend's parents, and will visit some old haunts. I will enjoy a giant grinder from Capo's Pizza because it is the very best sub in the world.
I will possibly go to the Tribe game on Thursday afternoon as our Indians square off with the O's concluding their four-game set.
On Saturday, I plan on driving to Pittsburgh, PA where I will take in a game at PNC Park, one of the few that I have never been to. The Pirates will be playing the Cleveland Indians. Stay in a hotel that night, drive back to VA on Sunday.

I'll wave as I pass by you. Drove up to MI last Saturday, driving through Morgantown, Columbus (ever heard of it), and Ann Arbor so I passed through my college sports hell. Anyway, driving back tomorrow! Hopefully your mom is walking a little better by the time you get there.

Yep, left Saturday morning at 4 am, daughter was wired out of her mind despite it being... 4 am. Surprisingly few stops for bathrooms or anything despite two females with bladders the size of walnuts in the car. Made it all the way to Morgantown (almost 4 hours) before my daughter made us stop in that hellhole to piss. Our route cut across VA to Winchester, up through WV to US 70/68 in MD then straight west back into WV at Morgantown, cut across the corner of Penn back to WV because fuck that state then 70 east through Zanesville (UEM knows where I mean) to Columbus, 270 around to US 23 north running into 75 then back off on 23 to Ann Arbor, 96 straight west across the state. 5 total stops, 2 for gas (and piss breaks) 2 for bathroom, 1 for lunch and to walk around/stretch legs a bit. Got in at 5, 13 hour trip, can't really complain it went about as well as I could have hoped.
Sunday was mom's birthday so presents were opened, took daughter to some parks. Monday more of the same. Tuesday we went to the zoo in Grand Rapids. It was actually pretty nice. I think I prefer it to the National Zoo. My daughter and I rode a camel. She thought it was the greatest thing ever. Wednesday we went to Holland and explored yet more parks, got some ice cream from some place my sister went to a bunch when she attended Dooze-famous-but-not-graduated-from Hope College. Thursday went out and about, walking along a lighthouse, getting corn dogs, ice cream, and the like. Went by a local blueberry place that just opened yesterday and got various yummy yums for dessert, breakfast, and to bring back. Today more parks and play. Tomorrow, leaving I'm presuming around 4 am again, hooraaaaay.
In the evenings, I've been enjoying Buffalo Trace, Longbranch, Glen Livet 12 and 14, Kalamazoo Stout, Sam Summer Ale.
Saturday - Drove to Ohio, dropped off my dog at my sister's house then went to visit my mom who opened conversation with "What's with all the gray hair?". I hadn't seen her in over 18 months.
Sunday - Went to see nephew play baseball. They won their first game, but then lost the second. He batted leadoff and played center. Was more athletic than I had expected. He is a three-sport varsity athlete as a sophomore at a not very athletic school. I think that he will probably get to play something at college, but I'm not sure that he will be higher than a D2 guy. Tons of D3 options in Ohio.
While he was playing, I was also using FB messenger to shoot my shot with a female from my hometown. She was four years younger than me so we didn't really travel in the same circles much, but we knew each other and had been FB friends for a while. We agreed to meet up on Friday night (group thing).
At some point driving around, we saw a blue car with big green rims. My mom pointed out how stupid the car looked. After we pulled up next to it, she said, "it was a white boy, not a Puerto Rican"
Monday - Mostly just chilled around my youngest sister's house during the day with the kids then watched beat Baltimore 4-3 with my mom at night.
Sat in the season ticket mezz level along first base side
I ate pizza, hot dog with Bertman's, some pretzel balls with Bertman's, nachos, and Diet Pepsi.
Brother-in-law gave me four bottles of Bertman's to take home. As a special treat to one of you, I will send out a bottle to the first person who DM's me. #Hero
I tweeted at Andre Knott and he replied during the contest.
Wednesday - Moved from Kent/Stow area to Ashtabula.
Stopped at hometown-famous Madsen Donuts
Hung out with fam for a bit then had some night beers at Halcyon - The joint
Two Coors Lights
won 8-7, but I only saw part of the game
Two friends who were supposed to show up, didn't make it.
Thursday - Went to world-famous Applebee's for lunch with the fam. I had the prime rib dipper sandwich, it was okay. Drove around town a little bit to see what had changed. Watched win 10-3 on the television. Did not tweet at the dugout reporter. Did have an exchange with one of the beat writers. he has a twitter shtick where he tracks how many times Jose Ramirez loses his helmet during the course of the season.
Friday - Met up with girl and her two friends, one of which graduated in my class. They ate food, but I only had two beers (Yuengling - www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/182/1351/) because I had enjoyed Purola Bros pizza - www.purolasbsp.com/ - prior to my arrival. We chatted for 40-60 minutes then decided to go to another bar. However, one of the friends claimed that she didn't feel well and, since they all came in the one car, they left. That was slightly disappointing.
Saturday - I had planned on going to PNC Park to see versus the Pirates, but the forecast called for all-day rain and I didn't want to live that life. They lost 6-3.
Since I had free night, I shot my shot with the girl again. She was meeting a friend and her husband for drinks and invited me along.
It turns out, her friend cancelled on her so it was just going to be the two of us. We went to a brewery
I had a chicken burrito, deep-fried corn, and a Mexican beer called Chu Papi. It was a good blonde ale.
After eating, we walked down to the Iriquois Lounge where I enjoyed a jack and diet, she had gin and tonic. We talked and laughed. I'm a funny, engaging guy, balls.
After that, we walked over to a new place, The 1035 Club - www.facebook.com/The1035Club/ - which is trying to be some sort of speakeasy. They had a live jazz band which was fine. I drank two-old fashioneds and a water. She had a gin and tonic and a water. We talked and laughed. We did move from the bar to the lounge area due to her ex-husband being at the bar.
We talked to the jazz guys during one of their breaks along with the two women who were with them. They called themselves "Full Circle" - www.facebook.com/events/780408502672913/?ref=newsfeed. We also briefly chatted with the white owner who leaned into his gimmick too much by wearing a tan fedora and bowling lounge type shirt.
After a couple of hours at that place, we finished off the night at some other joint where we had some sort of favorite drink of hers that involved gin poured from a flask with some type of basil or mint included. We had a long conversation with a drunk black gentleman named Brice. He told us a little bit about his time living in Houston. Should we ever meet again, I will press him on being named Brice, you can count on that.
We walked back to our cars in the rain and sat in hers for a while chatting and laughing. I'm still charming as fuck, bsmb.
About ten minutes after we split, she sent me a FB message with her phone number.
We are now texting and calling each other.
Besides your mother's, let me know which gaps I need to fill in here.

trim your pubes bc your going to pussytown soon my man
Sounds like a nice trip, UEM. Good luck with the potential long-distance sex.
I took a little trip to world-famouse Massachusetts last week. It wasn't terribly exciting, but I'm bored so I'll post about it.
As at least one of you may recall, my parents have recently purchased a new home in Wolf/Magnum-ville after 7 years living in/on Cape Cod. They will no longer own the Cape house as of this coming Friday, so we decided to make one last trip up there while we still had a free place to stay. We drove up Tuesday night, and the wife and I both took Wed-Friday off from work. My boss ended up being out on Wednesday for some kind of minor medical procedure, so I had to work a couple hours in the morning, but it was fine.
Wednesday I finished working around 10:30 and we took the kids here for the rest of the day:
My mom joined us at the beach as well. Twas a nice time. There was practically no one there. The water was freezing because it's Cape Code in June so no one went swimming, but the kids played in the sand and splashed around a little bit. We saw a fox on the beach, which was bizarre IMO.
Thursday we (along with my parents) drove out to Provincetown and went on a whale watch. It was a little chilly when the boat was moving, but it was a sunny clear day with calm seas so everyone had fun. We watched a mother humpback and her calf feeding around the boat for like a half hour. They were fun to watch if you're into that sort of thing. We later caught a brief glimpse of something called a fin whale, which I've never heard of but it's allegedly the second biggest species. I believe it. Also saw a few seals. OK. I thought the kids would be disappointed about not seeing more, but they seemed to have fun.
Had lunch here . As mentioned elsewhere, I had the lobster club and 2 Lagunitas IPAs. The sandwich was good, but there was barely any lobster on it. I should have just gotten the lobster roll. Then we walked around P-town for a while to admire all the gays. 31 would love this place. My favorite part was when my dad and I went into a coffee shop and while we were waiting for our coffee, he asked the guy (a 60ish homosexual with a German accent) if he could use the restroom. I mentioned I had to go as well, and the guy said, "There's only one. That's our playroom." Ummm, gross? And why is it OK for gays to just openly talk like that? If I had a coffee shop and told customers that I use the restroom to fuck, I'd be out of business the next day. Whatever. The coffee was good.
Stopped at another beach for a little while in the afternoon. I think it was this one:
The waves were gigantic, so my mom had a panic attack any time the kids got within 20 feet of the water. But I managed to prevent them from being swept out to sea while splashing around and having fun. There were dozens of seals in the water. We had fun watching them. Didn't see any sharks, which tend to follow the seals in this area. There was an absurdly hot 14-22 year old girl sitting in front of us, chatting with the lifeguard. Probably the highlight of my day.
Friday we spent the day at Cape Cod Inflatable Park. It was the first day they were open for the season, so I kind of expected it to be a shit show. It was kind of a long line to get in, but then really not crowded at all inside. Because my dad insists on paying for everything, he also splurged on a cabana rental for the day, which gave us a quiet shady spot for Pup 3 to nap for a little while. Would do again. The kids absolutely loved this place. There are 3 separate areas with their own admission. The main area is just a bunch of bouncy houses, inflatable obstaclec courses, and the like. Then there's a small water park - lazy river, a big splash pad with slides for younger kids, and 2 giant infatable water slides. And the third area is the "Powerade challenge zone," which has 7 different obstacle/challenge things that are up in the air with a big air cushion to catch you when you fall. Pup 1 and I did a few of them. My arms/chest are still sore 3 days later from 2 attempts at the "monkey bars" - a series of 4 swinging bars like something they'd do on American Ninja Warrior. I did complete it on the second try, but yeah, I'm not in good shape. ANYWAY... This was a fun day. Would definitely go back.
Saturday morning was supposed to be rainy, so we went out to breakfast and didn't make any major plans. The rain held off, so then Wolfette and I took the boys mini golfing at this jawn while my parents stayed home with Pup 3. Stopped for lunch (I had the OKC grilled cheese with avocado) and then she wanted to buy Cape Cod shirts for the kids (as if we don't have dozens of them already, but w.e.). So we blew a bunch of money on shit we don't need, then headed back to the house.
We were debating hitting the road for home, but the boys wanted to go play at the beach once more before we left. So at like 4:00 we figured we'd hit the beach for a couple hours and then go home. We picked yet another different beach:
About a half mile from the beach pakring lot is the newest location of board-famous Tree House Brewing. I had no idea this place was open yet, but there appeared to be activity in the parking lot so I looked it up and discovered they were open for curbside pickup. I ordered some beers (for the files: 2 Jjjuicee Machine and 4 each of Very Green, Super Sap, Juice Machine, Haze, Wanderer, and Surfcaster), we enjoyed a beer on the beach, and then the rain that was supposed to have hit that morning finally rolled in and chased everyone off the beach by 5:00. So we drove home, with a stop for some Happy Meals on the way.
On Sunday we flew in. We stayed at the Palmer House Hilton which opened a few days before we arrived. It had been closed since March, which is insane.
The pandemic seems pretty much over in Chicago. Still a lot of things are not open, and a lot of bars were closing at 11 p.m. Also, they are not defunding the police as I saw so many police during our stay. It was a bigger police presence than I can remember in any other American city.
During the afternoon we went here for a few drinks:
I think this is the best Chicago deep dish pizza, but I still don't like the crust. Untouchable, thoughts?
We met up with his family afterward and did the Chicago River Architecture Cruise:
That was really a cool experience. Strong recommend for anyone in town.
After the cruise we made our way via the redline to Wrigley Field for the #tpt vs. the Cubs. #tpt lost 7-1. Wheels came off for Eli Morgan in the 6th. UEM, probably knows what I mean.
Wrigley Field is cool, but its concessions need upgrading. I had one hot dog with yellow mustard and 4 Goose Island 312s. I don't normally like wheat beers, but these were decent.
After the game, My friend, his wife and I met up with MEW for a few drinks here:
