mj asked for a St Louis recap and how could I possibly give up the chance to provide you all with such scintillating content?
Got up on Friday, got the kids off to school/daycare respectively, picked up the mower from the shop and at least got the front lawn mowed before it started to rain (Again. 10 straight days. Apparently a record). Wife and I then departed around 11, took the dog to the kennel for the weekend. Wife and I drove separately to her mother's house in the Quad Cities because she wanted to get a new desk and chair for her office and we wanted to make sure that we had room to get kids home (MIL was coming up Friday afternoon, staying at our house Friday night and then taking the kids to the QC on Saturday). I managed to go on the wrong interstate (stayed on 80 instead of going on 280) and ended up costing us like 45 minutes. Good start!
Uneventful trip down, we arrived around 5:30, checked into the hotel ( www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/stlmg-marriott-st-louis-grand/ ) It was fine, nice bar downstairs, rooms were comfortable. Dropped stuff off in the room and then headed to the Over Under Bar & Grlll near our hotel. overunderstl.com/ We got some spicy fried pickles as an app (not on the menu on the website for some reason), I had fish & chips and the wife had a veggie burger. She got some kind of mixed drinks and I had 2 Stammtisch from Urban Chestnut Brewing. Headed back to the hotel bar, watched some sports, chatted with some people, had too much to drink.
Saturday dragged out of bed, went to Breakfast, Lunch & Tacos for a late breakfast www.stlblts.com/ I had the cheddar jalapeno biscuits and gravy, wife had some eggs. Late enough and big enough meal that we were able to skip lunch. We kind of wandered around downtown St Louis the rest of the day, went over to the Arch and went to the museum there, walked up to the CityGarden and then over to Busch. Had a couple drinks there while we sat outside and listened to a band near the stadium, then walked back down near the Arch and went on a riverboat cruise. Pretty boring, St Louis does not have an electric shoreline. Once that was done, the gates were open at the stadium so we went up to the Champions Club area. Kind of cool to see the actual Cardinals WS trophies. As discussed last week, food and drink were included but the selection of drinks were somewhat limited. Wife had a few strawberry daquiris, I stuck to Bud. They had a nacho bar which we both had, then I had a couple dogs & she got some miscellaneous stuff. Seats were right outside down the left field line, the Yadi GW home run landed right near us. The game was entertaining, the Cubs offense predictably shit the bed so they lost but it was over & done in less than 3 hours. Went back to the hotel and just hung out there.
Sunday morning, got up and grabbed breakfast and then headed to IKEA. She found a desk and chair she liked there, so mission accomplished. Drove back to the QC, got the kids and then headed home, were back right around 6.

A good birthday weekend was had.
That sounds like a fun birthday weekend. The Champions Club area sounds great.
I agree with you on St. Louis in general. It may be my least favorite big city I have been to. I think Jacksonville just nudges it out, for second to last.
