I normally pay the $3 main slate entry with $1,000,000 in prize money which limits each player to 20 entries.
This was my lineup this past weekend:
M. Stafford 9.68
J. Mixon 31.5
M. Gordon 1
H. Renfrow 13
T. Higgins 46.4
A. Brown 23.10
J. Cook 9.4
Gronk 3.3
Seattle D 4
Total 141.38
Winnings $0. A good lineup with some unfortunate holes, like Ldot's mom.
Even if I got 10 more points out of a QB other than Stafford, and 15 more points choosing an RB other than Gordon, I would have won a little over $6.
I shouldn't play this game, should I?
What game would you recommend?
I’m not paje but I’ll chime in. You shouldn’t play that game as your only game if your goal is to win money. This game is a lottery ticket, plain and simple. The whole point of it is to chase the dream of turning $3 into a million, which is next to impossible. You are far more likely to win nothing than to win a lot.
The games paje plays are 50/50 and/or double up contests. You put up your money; the top half of the field splits the prize pool evenly and the bottom half gets nothing. More often than not, 141.38 points is a W in this format, while it’s usually gets you nothing in those giant tournaments.
To put it on gambling terms, the 50/50 contests are like just betting on a game: you either win or lose with roughly a 1:1 payout. The million $ tourney is a parlay on overt game and every over/under and a couple dozen props. You’re almost definitely gonna lose, but it’s fun to look at the 300000:1 odds and imagine what you’re gonna do with the money.

Everything Wolf said is pretty much spot on. I filter by single entry only contests. I do about $20 in 50/50s and then one $3 tournament contests. Scores are much lower in that contest than the million dollar ones. First place is like $10K or something like that. A couple seasons ago I won $80 but otherwise it turning $3 into $5 or getting zero.
I know I'm never coming out of this as a millionaire, usually I come out about $30-$50 ahead on the season. That plus the cheeks I see are what keeps me doing it.
