Council members overwhelmingly voted last week to cut funds for police training and overtime and to eliminate dozens of vacant positions within the Seattle Police Department after months of contentious talks. The reductions fall short of the 50% that local activists demanded amid nationwide protests against police brutality and racial injustice.
The council also decided to transfer parking enforcement officers, mental health workers and 911 dispatchers out of the police department.
“I believe we are laying the groundwork to make systemic and lasting changes to policing,” Durkan said in a statement last week. “We have rightly put forward a plan that seeks to ensure SPD has enough officers to meet 911 response and investigative needs throughout the city, while acknowledging and addressing the disproportionate impacts policing has had on communities of color, particularly Black communities.
During the second quarter of the broadcast of Wednesday's Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers game, Collinsworth said in reference to Pittsburgh, "Everybody's a fan. In particular, the ladies that I met. They have really specific questions about the game, and I'm like, 'Wow,' you’re just blown away by how strong the fans are here in this town."

Are you fucking kidding me? Not only did he assume the people he encountered identify as ladies, fans, or Pittsburghers. But he also implied that being any of those things would make them less knowledgable than him. The only reason we haven't thrown him under the jail yet is that jails are inhumane and racist and should all be peacefully burned to the ground.

The people behind this sort of ideology think so little of the capability of the individual that things like that don’t matter. If anything it helps them.
