Credit where credit is due [/31], Simmons went off on an NBA hot take that has been annoying me lately--Dame Lillard is absolutely not the best Blazer ever. He wasn't as complete of a player as Drexler and his teams weren't as successful either.

Yeah I agree. I’m enjoying all these Boston nba media types being bummed about Dame to Miami though.

Is Wander Franco the biggest case waste of Hall Of Fame talent?
Usually when this is brought up, you get guys like Josh Gordon and Aldon Smith in the NFL, Len Bias and David Thompson in the NBA, and Josh Hamilton and Dwight Gooden in MLB. With the exception of Aldon Smith, all of those guys' careers were ruined by drugs.
However, Franco, who if it wasn't for Ohtani might be the frontrunner for AL MVP, is ruining his career by the worst possible thing outside of murder, which is sleeping with minors.
If you don't know, Franco was
The Number 1 Prospect in all of Baseball heading into the 2020 and 2021 season
Was only 20 years old when he was called up
Had a 127 OPS+ at 20 years old while playing elite defense at the most important defensive position and playing a huge part for the Rays, who had the best record in the American League that year. Would have won Rookie of the Year if he wasn't hurt for most of the season
Signed an 11 year, 182 Million Dollar contract at 20 years old with an organization that has notoriously cheap ownership
Has put up a 127 OPS+, a 5.5 WAR (6th in the majors and ahead of Freddie Freeman and Matt Olson and just behind Position Player Ohtani), and has been the best defensive player in baseball this year by nearly every metric
He was pretty much on his way to becoming a superstar, if he wasn't already. The only other case I can think of that comes close is Aaron Hernandez, but I don't think Hernandez was viewed as highly as Franco is right now
