Prez, how much thought do you put into your dart game? Like grip, elbow angle, etc.
I was discussing this with my buddy/teammate recently. He is very aware of his mechanics... if his elbow is straight, how hard he is throwing the dart, how upright he's standing, etc. I don't pay attention to any of that. When I shoot darts, it's all about being comfortable at the line (oche) and confidence. I also seem to be able to play at a fairly high level without practicing. I'm sure I would be better if I practiced, but there doesn't seem to be a big dropoff when I don't.
Last night was the opening match of my 25th season in the dart league. The league conducted a vote and we decided to split into 2 divisions. The Deadeyes are in the A division and we will play each A team twice and each B team once during the regular season. We won our opening match 17-1, so we're off to a good start. We play the dreaded Wankers next week, which always sucks. Wolf is still on my roster, so we have that going for us.

In other news, I had the worse year of my career statistically, but bought a new set of darts last week from a teammate and really like the way I'm throwing now. Let's hope the improvement I've seen continues.

Theny, I've had a dartboard in my house since I joined the league in 1998. I used to play at home with my kids, who are both on my roster now. My youngest doesn't have time for darts nonsense, but my oldest kid is a full-time player on my team and is pretty damn good at darts. He's better than me now, but not as good as I was in my prime.

The match came down to the final 501 game, winner take all. Both teams needed a double to win the game and the match, and they hit it first (after several near misses by my team).

The new season of darts kicked off last week. The Deadeyes are back with a slightly different lineup. Two of the regulars on my team wanted to play in a more competitive league and have been replaced with two new players. Wolf is still on my roster so there's still a chance he could prove himself as a super sub.
