IMHO criticizing the Red Sox here is a critique of one specific player/scenario, not "the way they ahve chosen to operate the team". If they had a legitimate chance to resign him, they should have broken the bank to do so because he's worth every penny. If they thought he was gonna walk, trade him and get something for him while you still can. This isn't the Marlins trading away every good player they've ever had because they can't give them a long-term deal. This is a team that has spent plenty of money on plenty of stars over the years, but they probably fucked up on this one.
All that being said... I have absolutely not hate for the Dodgers for "buying a championship". Big market teams - the Red Sox included - have been doing this for decades, and won't stop doing it any time soon. I actually think the Dodgers are a pretty likeable team, and I'd have no issue with them winning the NL.
The Red Sox failing to make another move at the trade deadline was also pretty indefensible IMO.
This post is from March before the season started, and it provides a theory that the Boston Red Sox have won the World Series four times since 2004. Each time, there has been a small pair of flags in that season’s World Series logo.
When the ALCS and NLCS logos were unveiled in March, they noticed the fading flags in the logo meaning the Sox are going to win the ALCS.
However the 2021 World Series logo does not have flags.
Therefore the Sox beat Houston in the ALCS but lose to Atlanta, LA or San Fran.
Looking back at page 1, it looks like none of us got the W.S. match up correct. No one picked Atlanta, only Kite had Houston, who he had losing to SF. We know sports!

At least you had Atlanta beating Milwaukee, unlike SOME people....
