I went to a basketball camp circa 1997 and one of the coaches was this guy called Dave Hoppla who was all about fundamentals and just had absolutely perfect form and could make an uncontested shot from almost literally anywhere. Google tells me he’s currently coaching with the Knicks and is “considered to be the best shooter in the world.”
ANYWAY… One thing that really stuck with me was when he’s talk about hot shot players making lucky off-balance horseshit shots that no one should ever practice. His line was “your son sucks, he made a bad shot.” First thing I thought of when I saw that. It was kind of awesome though.
