NCAA BASKETBALL

Per the request of PJ76, we'll deep dive into a 16-team NCAA mens basketball WhatIf tournment.

I'll put the sixteen teams into four pools and play a six-game regular season (home and home with each team in your pool) in order to establish the tournament seeding. Then we'll get to the single-elimination tournament.

If you have no interest at all, please make sure to leave a snide comment about kiddie sports or paid amateurs so that we know that you are better than us. TYIA.

Please select your team in the thread and I will update below (first 16 responses get in). Include the school name and the year that their season started. I've made my selection already.

That's a lot of "if"s. Too bad there's no way to see how things would have gone otherwise.

I know right? You'd think he'd bring it up from time to time.

That UNC team had the most talent of any Dean Smith coached team. Add in an underrated guard in Steve Hale and a glue guy like Matt Doherty and that rotation was perfect for Smith's system. They went undefeated in the ACC regular season that year. I can't wait to see how they stack up in this thing.
