Yesterday in the shoutbox Flush and Wolf implored me to watch the movie Step Brothers. After the Cavs game finished last night it was around 8ish and the film was available on Peacock so I fired it up.
I am generally not a big fan of absurd humor, but this movie was hysterical to me. Obviously Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are amazing, but everyone in the film does a fantastic job. I would never have thought of casting Mary Steenburgen and the older guy from Six Feet Under as the parents, but they were perfect. Also, Mary Steenburgen looked borderline hot in the movie. She was no Andrea Savage, but still. Kathyn Hahn and Adam Scott were incredible. I even enjoyed Rob Riggle who I do not find funny very often.
I would put it a step below Old School, 40 year-old Virgin and Forgetting Sarah Marshall as my favorite post-2000 comedies. However, it is very close. I think those other movies are a little better because they have a story, where Step Brothers really doesn't.
Thanks to Flush and Wolf for their encouragement to see this movie.
Step Brothers take a knock bc of the STUPID school related challenges. It was awesome for like 65% of the film. Because of that, Step Brothers gets the decision from the Judge and Jurah.
Gentlemen, I must say, this was an absolute banger of an post.

I know that you've posted some contrarion takes in the past but even I didn't think that you would have the gall to say that Step Brothers is better than Step Brothers.

I saw a couple minutes of Harry Met Sally the other day. What an absurd movie. Are we to believe that Meg Ryan, who looked hot, would go for Billy Crystal? What in the fuck was this casting? Hollywood is ridiculous.
I watched the Aviator on Netflix. Think I only saw it once in the theater. My notes:
Underrated Leo performance. Forgot Adam Scott and John C Reilly were in this Cate Blanchett is awful. Can't believe she won an Oscar. I get that she's just impersonating Katherine Hepburn but just grating as hell. Kate Beckinsale, one of the most striking actresses of all time

I am the same with you as that I only saw it once in a theater.

I remember thinking at the time that the Blanchett/Hepburn stuff was weird.
