I was confused why you'd like this show until I realized you're mentally a child that lives in 1996. Verdict: NOT a CB Take.
I never saw the movies, so I found much of this show super corny. I did not understand why Daniel got so wrapped up in the nonsense, seems to be a successful guy. Johnny is a loser, so I understood his angle.
Most of the characters were shitheads. My least favorite is Robby, what a jerkoff. And Hawk - dork.
However I will give the show credit for being very watchable.

I think I agree with Michael Sharpe. There's not much more to explore here. I really don't care about that Takagi tournament, or whatever they were auditioning for.
