I kinda feel for dong and the Cubs, their lineup is really solid, imo
They desperately need a catcher that can hit but yeah, the lineup has been good, Morel could develop into a legit star with a bit more consistency. Top 4 of the rotation is decent but Shoto getting shelled in his last start was concerning. Their bullpen is beyond horrendous. I haven't seen Counsell do anything atrocious but I don't think he's been some incredible step up from Ross, either.
ETA: Thanks to the awful new wild card rules though, they're still in contention.
This was, as Scully states, kind of interesting. But IMO this should be random fodder to fill the airwaves when it's 12-3 in the 8th inning. You don't need to give a history lesson during a 1-1 ballgame.

Can you guys and girls explain to me wha happen to batting averages? Why are they so atrocious now. Schwarber bats like .190, this guy Lux im watching now bats like .213.

The Hell?
I don’t care for it. It’s a byproduct of the over-emphasis on advanced stats - launch angle and exit velocity and such. On some level I get that a low average guy who walks a lot and hits bombs is still very valuable, but it’s infuriating to see “good” hitters with like a .217 batting average.
Also Schwarber is hitting .250, but he hit .197 and .218 tha last 2 years so you’re not totally wrong.
