I ordered a macchiato for my wife at Starbucks this morning. The lady asked me “do you want that layered or all mixed together?” This isn’t something I drink because I’m not a suburban white broad or a 62 year old Brewers fan, but I’ve ordered them many times and have never been asked this question. So I told her I don’t know the difference and she replied, “One is layered, which is how it usually comes, and the other is all mixed together.” Thanks, that really added a lot to the conversation.
I mean, she kind of did answer your question. How did you get it? Also you should’ve made your wife order it on the app, makes it way easier with their female coffee nonsense.

I went with layered. I assume if that’s the way it normally comes, that’s what she regularly gets. I’ve ordered it on the app for her before and never customized, so I guess that’s what she gets.
Also this particular Starbucks is inside the grocery store and not available on the app. It was an impromptu purchase to do something nice for her while I was out.

pro tip: if you got the "wrong" thing, tell her you ordered it that way, they must have screwed it up
So this is a very obvious thing that I somehow didn't start doing until like the last 3 months, but adding hot coffee when you have about 1/3 of the previous cup left keeps everything at a very drinkable temp.

$20 for a coffee warming plate is the best solution of all time

I got one of those fancy warming mugs as a gift from some work thing a couple years ago. It works well and I like the idea of it in theory, but I don't like having to remember to plug in my coffee mug when I'm done so I stopped using it. I typically just use an insulated mug and it stays plenty hot enough.

#TeamYeti over here. Although, with the warm summer months upon us I'm currently in cold brew season.

I knew what you meant, but the warming plate made me think of my warming mug. Which does work great, but you have to plug in the actual mug once in a while to keep it charged. The plate seems like a better idea because you just leave that plugged in at your desk or whatever.
I drink it fast enough that I'm more concerned at keeping it at a constantly cool enough to drink temperature versus making it warm enough that it's not gross.
We bought a couple Dunkin' Boxes O' Joe for a youth hockey tailgate thing on Saturday, and people didn't drink as much coffee as expected so I brought a full box home. So for the last 3 days I've just had coffee available in the fridge to pour over ice and en-joy with no preparation required. It's kinda nice IYO.

That feels like you're getting cute with it and having enjoyment so I suspect that she'll put a halt to this nonsense quickly

lol tough but fair.
Buying 2 boxes were her idea. She suggested that if there was extra, we could pour it into ice cube trays and use those in iced coffee when we want it. Also not a bad idea, but it seemed easier to just drink it over the next few days. I don't plan to make this a habit of just buying the week's coffee on Sunday or anything, because it's still cheaper to make it at home I'm sure. But I certainly haven't ruled out doing it again.
As an aside, I'm all out of Stella Blue cold brew and may need to order some more.
ETA: dong. Didn't see your post before I made my own Stella Blue remark.
