I suffered a pretty serious athletic injury today. We took the kids to the science museum today (there were like 11 people there; normally crowded places that everyone is afraid to go to are a nice little side effect of PJ’s fake pandemic) and there’s this simple machines exhibit. One of the things is a chair you sit on, and there’s a rope in front of you attached to pulleys; you pull down on the rope to raise yourself up.
My kids wanted me to try the hardest one (there were 3 seats with different kinds of pulleys), so I sat down and grabbed the rope. I succeeded in lifting myself all the way up, but I somehow pinched my left index finger between my other hand and the knot of the rope. This was about 11 hours ago and the finger is still numb. I assume this disability will cause my typing to suffer like Balls.

since it's been (relatively) cold the past couple weeks i have been wearing my only cold weather jacket to/from the gym and starbucks. it's my old College of Charleston swim parka. apparently either these are cool now or i am being mocked by the kids, i have had multiple young people ask me where i got it. it's like this one but crimson with white interior lining:
looking at it in the image, i am leaning towards mocking. don't care, it's warm. so warm that if the temp is over 50 i can't wear it.
I recently decided that 42 is a pretty good age to start playing a physically demanding sport that I never previously played in any organized capacity, so my BIL and I joined a men's league hockey team at a local rink that has a beginners division. We had our first game on Sunday. It was very fun, but we only had 7 skaters and we all wanted to kill ourselves by the end of the first period. He and I are probably the 2 strongest skaters on the team, but I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that everyone at least seems to know how the game is played. We lost 5-2, largely because the other team's goalie was much better than ours. I think we out-possessed and out-shot the other team. I had probably 5-6 unsuccessful shots on goal, and also missed the net twice on breakaways. Good job, good effort. We'll get em next time. I enjoyed myself muchly and wish I'd been playing this game my whole life. Very excited for the next game. I'll keep you all posted.
