What wolf said. The other part of the defeatist attitude is it absolves R politicians from any sort of reason to look in the mirror and figure out what they need to change going forward.
so you think Rs can convert Ds to vote for them?
I applaud your optimism.
Presidential elections are really about the 40% of people in the middle.
Trump lost the last election because he lost a lot of those people with his insanity, especially white suburban women.
Are you aware that “you don’t live in PA so you can’t possibly know what you’re talking about in relation to PA election stuff” is the exact same made up bullshit argument that your favorite group of people uses when they talk about “lived experience”?
nobody in this conversation is talking about the stuff except for me when I bring up this stuff but when you respond I call you a crybaby faggot

forget everything else but numbers.
81 million voted for Biden (I think) 78 million voted for trump (I think)
How are republicans making up that 3 million gap if trumps the candidate? How are they making up that gap when you add in the ones who will only vote for Trump?

Electoral college determines the winner. Democrats are going to get a lot of votes because of New York and California.
As you note, it comes down to a handful of states in many elections.
Simplifying the last two Presidential election results:
2016: Hillary lost because Black voters did not support her at the polls in the key states the way they did Obama
2020: Trump lost because he lost a lot of suburban voters the key states, mostly white and especially women.
With that being said, without Covid Trump wins in a landslide in 2020. Not because of mail in voting, but because the economy was doing very well.

It's not 3 million they have to make up. It's getting the right electoral count--or did we forgive the debt we owed the electoral college?

I don't know how they're making it up. That's not my job to figure out. But I do know that saying "we have no chance because we lost last time" sure as shit ain't gonna do it.
I know I voted for Biden last time and I'm not doing it again. That's 1 out of 3 million. He's been so spectacularly awful that I assume I can't possibly be alone.
ETA: I'm aware of the electoral college and I know PJ is too. Obviously it's not as simple as 3 million votes, but the right number of votes in the right states. My answer above doesn't change, regardless of which numbers we're talking about.
They aren't convincing Dems in NYC and SF and Chicago to vote red, no matter how much their cities continue to flounder under D leadership. But there are a shit load of people who voted for Biden almost exclusively because he wasn't Trump. Has Biden been bad enough to convince a lot of them to vote for Trump? I don't know, but if the Republican party can't convince them that he has been, then that's on them. I'm not a political strategist so I can't tell you what it's gonna take to get enough of those votes. But I can tell you that for me personally, I look at Biden now and I see a senile old man that's incapable of speaking in complete sentences, let alone running a country. Maybe he was that 3 years ago too and I didn't realize it. But that, along with seeing how willing the people around him are to continue pandering to the absurd far-left nonsense, is enough to convince me that I'm not voting for them in '24. I'd rather have pretty much anyone - including Trump, although I wouldn't feel good about it - over Biden, Harris, or any of the other prominent Dems right now. Maybe there are aren't 3 million of me out there, but if these idiots just keep doing the same shit they've been doing and then blame the system like they did in 2020, I have zero sympathy for them and they don't deserve to win.

I’m at the gym. Yes electoral college I know. Trump lost those white women because he beat Hillary and they were furious.

A lot of women were and are not fans of Hillary. Farva's support notwithstanding.
It had more with Trump acting like an ass a lot of the time.
Do you know how many magnums there are who are firmly non-affiliated with the democrats now? Plus the constant message from the free press is republicans are scumbags.

Fair enough. Trump was a great president that never stood a chance with this country because he attacked the press and screwed up the succession plan.
