I was returning from my afternoon walk with my dog and saw a young male deer in the front yard 2 houses from mine. I wanted to take a few pics but my dog wasn't interested in anything other than chasing it off, so I just took her inside. Looks like my neighbor (who I've never met) took pics and posted on da book in a town group I belong to.
ETA: Also, we had a bear on my street yesterday (I didn't see it).

prez do you not often see deer where you live or just never that close to your house?

It was pretty common at the house I owned before my divorce. This is the first sighting since I've moved, and especially notable because it was a young buck and also the closeness. Note: there is a busy highway that runs behind my house (150 yards?) and I'm guessing the close proximity of that keeps a lot of wildlife away.
There’s 6-8 deer that frequent the woods behind my house and often come through my back basement yard. One day last fall/early winter I was walking the trails out there and happened upon 2 young bucks, just sitting in a little valley like 25 yards from where I walked by. That was cool, as I’ve never seen an antlered buck up close before and was really surprised to see 2 of them together. I’ve seen as many 6 deer at once in my yard, but all does and their young offspring.
New Hampshire Fish and Game said 53-year-old Xi Chen, of Andover, Mass., was attempting a Presidential Traverse, which is around 20 miles long and crosses each mountain in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains.
Chen became severely hypothermic on a trail near Mt. Clay Saturday night into early Sunday morning, prompting what was described as a "high risk rescue" attempt.
Fish and Game officials said Chen texted his wife around 6:30 p.m. to say he was cold and wet and couldn't continue, adding he felt he would die without a rescue.
Rescuers worked to reach Chen despite freezing temperatures, precipitation, and winds gusting over 80 mph.
That seems incredibly stupid.
Rescuers received multiple calls on Saturday for hikers who were cold and wet, the majority in high elevations in the Presidential Range.
