My thoughts:
Rage Against The Machine: No
This is their fourth time, and they're critical darlings. If they haven't got in by now, they shouldn't.
Judas Priest: No
I guess I can see an argument for Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Motorhead but that's just not my type of music, so I say no.
New York Dolls: No
I get people think they were influential, but they weren't very good or all that commercially successful.
Pat Benatar: Borderline
Great singer and very successful, but how influential was she?
MC5: Abstain, because I don't know enough. I just looked and this is his/her/their sixth time - see RATM.
Eminem: Yes
Without question. One of the most influential artists in hip hop in the last 20 years.
Beck: Borderline
He's an interesting artist, but I don't know if he's hall of fame material.
Kate Bush: No - stop this silliness.
DEVO: No
I just don't think they were as influential or successful as they sometimes get credit for.
Duran Duran: Borderline
Huge hits, great videos, lots of success.
Eurythmics: Borderline
Good group. Great songs. Annie Lennox is an incredible singer, and Dave Stewart is an incredible producer.
Fela Kuti: Abstain, because I don't know enough.
Dolly Parton: Yes
This one will cause some debate. Dolly is known primarily as a country artist. But she had some major crossover pop hits back in the 80's. She wrote one of the biggest hits of all time (I Will Always Love You.) I also feel like she's the front runner to take over Betty White's now vacant spot as the most beloved person in America. She will get in.
Lionel Richie: No
Why are the Commodores not in? They need to get in before Lionel solo.
Carly Simon: Borderline
Probably as deserving as Carole King was as a recording artist last year.
A Tribe Called Quest: Yes
Super interesting and highly respected. They only question is: Do they put Tribe and Eminem in the same year or space them out?
Dionne Warwick: Borderline
She had a LOT more hits than people probably remember, and was extremely popular.
