From the very beginning they said young kids were the least likely to get seriously ill from the 'vid. That didn't stop our cocksucking school boards filled with a bunch of NIMBY Magnums from sneeringly and defiantly forcing the kids to do remote, hybrid, and finally in person, fully masked school way longer than necessary to the point our governor had to step in and tell them and our cocksucking former superintendent to cut the shit and set the kids free.
So yeah, they fucked with two years of my kids' lives with for no real reason, forgive me if I hold a grudge and continue to talk about it.
If at any point one of these asswipes said "I was wrong, we did things wrong." I would move on. But they never did. And like Jim said, their mentality was (and still is) that they know better, they're smarter, they're on the correct side and cannot fathom admitting failure or wrongdoing.
There are definitely plenty of good reasons not to trust the retards in power who went waaaaayyyyyy overboard with the severity and length of Covid protections. But if your response to that at this point is “Covid is just a cold and there was never any reason to take any precautions at all” then I think you’ve lost the plot.
(And by “you” I don’t actually mean you because I don’t think you’re saying that. I was simply making a literal Wolf counterpoint to UEM’s original “if you believe that masks and vaccines work” point.)
From March 2020 until the end of school that spring/summer, I understood it. It made sense to send everyone home, no one really seemed to know what was going on and what to do. But Christ, by fall of '21 I think we had enough data to know the kids weren't at as much risk, the six foot rule in classrooms was bullshit, masking little kids in their outdoor gym classes was unequivocally retarded. but these smug fucking cuntwipes didn't want to hear it from us "troublemaking" parents. Just shut up and do it. Just shut up and mask up. We are right because we say so.
