Colin Quinn: Red State Blue State. I mentioned this in the old standup thread, but I recently discovered that I've been sleeping on this guy for 20 years because he sucked on Weekend Update so I just assumed he wasn't funny. He's a legitimately great comic, and is at his best in this "one man show" format where the whole thing is a perfectly crafted 60-minute story as opposed to a bunch of bits that aren't necessarily connected to each other. I previewed his "New York Story" recently, and you may don't remember that I really enjoyed it. Well this one was way better IMHO. Just a brilliant take on the current... state /31 of how retarded we all are. Shits on both sides equally and humorously. There aren't as many laugh out loud individual jokes as some folks might look for from a traditional standup show, but the whole thing is just really fucking clever and funny. Towards the end he does a tour of the 50 states, with a line or 2 about each one, and I LOL'd at like half of them. That bit is probably the highlight of the show, but the whole thing was great. Strong rec, and if you watch it and don't like it, then fuck off.
I just rewatched Paper Tiger, the Bill Burr special on Netflix and was about to create this thread tonight. Good on you.
The first 30 minutes of Burr's special is near perfection. A top guy at the top of his game. Solid throughout, but those first 30 were wow good.
It really is great. I was just about to hit play on that (which I’ve watched and enjoyed previously, as well as seeing him live on that tour) tonight when I saw the Quinn special right next to it in my Flix suggestions and decided to go with something I hadn’t seen before.

I find him likeable but not funny, i'll give any specials he may have on the 'flix a shot.

I was like wolf. I remember watching Colin Quinn's first weekend update and it was awful. He had some long opening about replacing your favorite bartender.

He has been a good guest on Howard.
I think he just sucks at reading a teleprompter. His WU stuff always seemed like he was stumbling over the words and/or it was the first time he'd seen the jokes so he didn't have the right delivery. Now that I've gotten over that and given him a chance, I like him in basically every other format I've seen/heard. I'm probably gonna buy his book now.
artie lange is still alive, he was on the nick dipaolo podcast. just for a few minutes, and just to let people know he's doing alright. good to know he's okay.

I saw a tweet about that last night. TY for confiring. And TY for not putting this in the Howard Stern thread.
